He got on one knee.
Ken: Leela, will you marry me. No family, no suitors, no obligations. Just me?
Jun: It's so good to see the two of you getting ready for the wedding. Only a week left and our families will be one. Jun: Ken I am so happy to have you as a son. I know you and Leela will make many sons. And Leela, I am so happy that we have found the perfect suitor for you. Later that night Leela was in her room staring at the stars.
Ken: You left the party early. Is everything alright?
Leela: Yes. Just some prewedding jitters.
Ken: You don't know how much you mean to me Leela. You being my wife has put me on cloud nine. I just want to make you happy. I was kind of scared to ask you to marry me all over again. I didn't know how you would react since it was by your choice and not my families.
Leela didn't say anything she just kissed him softly on the lips. Jun:(small cough) Now that the wedding is one week away we must remain in tradition. Say goodbye to your bride, the next time you meet you will be face to face as husband and wife.
Ken said goodbye to Leela and left the bedroom.
Leela: When will you release Ma-Ming?
Jun: She will come soon enough. I just need to make sure you do as you are told. Marry and bear his heir.
Leela: A child. You never said anything about a child. I'm not doing that.
Jun: You WILL do it. That is the only way to make sure that we have a place with the family.
Jun: NOW DO AS YOU'RE TOLD OR ELSE! Ma-Ming will be released and welcomed back into the family as soon as you are pregnant. Then you and your precious mother will be back together.
Leela: I can't believe you're making me do this.
Jun: I've never made you do anything. You chose this for youself.
Leela: You left me know choice.
Leela began to cry.
Jun: I can't believe that that little woman was right.
Leela: What woman?
Jun: The one that sent you back to me. She told me how eager you would be to get your mother back and hear you are.
Leela began to walk away until Jun grabbed her by the arm.
Jun: Remember, you say a word of this to Ken and I will ruin you.
Leela couldn't believe what she had gotten herself into. She wished she was back at school with the gang. She had gotten letters back from Brittany and found out that Blake had left to go back home after graduation. Their wedding day had been planned out to the nine. It was big and extravagant with all of the family and friends. She was able to invite the Carters to the wedding. She had told her parents that while caring for her mother Ming, she had fallen in love with Ken. It was a lie but it was what she needed to say so they wouldn't suspect anything. Now it was set. The plan was going to work and she was going to get Ming back home where she belonged. It was the night for them to consumate their marriage.
Ken: Are you as nervous as I am.
Leela: More.
Ken: I feel like a little boy who has never kissed a girl.
After almost an hour of fumbling around they both agreed to just sleep their first night together.
It was a great first month for the couple. Leela did everything she could to be the perfect wife. Meanwhile Ma-Ming was always in the back of her mind. But they still had not consummated their wedding night. Then one night while lying in the bed. Ken began to tickle her.
Leela: I love you.
Ken jumped up.
Leela: What's wrong?
Ken: I can't remember you ever telling me that. We've been together for over a year and this is the first time you have ever said that to me.
He looked into her eyes.
Ken: Tell me again.
Leela: I love you.
Ken kissed her on the cheeks.
Leela: I love you.
She repeated each time he kissed her.
That night they had made their marriage official and spent their first night together. Months had passed and the couple had just gotten in from an outing in the park.
Ken: Hello.
He listened carefully.
Ken: What? Are you serious? I will let her know.
He walked into the kitchen where Leela was preparing dinner.
Ken: Leela. That was Han on the phone.
Leela: Oh.
Ken: He said Jun had a heart attack. There was no one around and it was severe. He died in his sleep.
Leela stopped cooking.
Leela: You're lying.
Ken: I'm sorry baby, but I'm not.
He reached out to hug her but she ran into the livingroom
Leela: It can't be. It's a lie, It's a lie. I have to get Ma-Ming back. I have to get her back.
She was crying out tears running down her face.
Leela: He's the only one to tell me where Ma-Ming is.
Ken: Leela what are you talking about?
Leela stopped her crying.
Leela: Ma-Ming! Jun is the only one to know where Ming is. He said he was going to let her go.
Ken: Let her go? But Leela, Ma-Ming died. She died years ago.
Leela: WHAT?
Leela: That's not true. Jun said that if I married you that he would let her go.
Ken: Ming died 4 years ago. She was ill and died in her sleep. There was a ceremony and everything for her.
Leela: Then it all was a lie? A lie to get me here.
Leela: How could I have been so stupid? He was playing me the whole time. All he wanted me to do was marry so he could have control. I was ticket into the family. I can't believe how stupid I am. If I'd known she was dead then I never would have gone through with this. I would have never. . . . . Ken: Married me.
Leela: Ken. I
Ken: If he hadn't tricked you about your mother, then you would not have never married me. Then that's what this is. A marriage of convenience?
Leela: Ken. I don't know what to say.
Ken: I knew it was too good to be true. Here I was thinking that everything we had this past year was truly love and that you wanted to be with me. Even when I kept asking you over and over. I didn't want you to have to marry me because of our families.
Leela: I wanted to tell you. I really did from the beginning. But in order for me to get Ma-Ming back I couldn't tell you. I had to do what Jun wanted and Jun wanted me to marry you.
Leela: I should have never come here. I should have left when I had the chance. But I didn't know she had already died. I didn't want to live this lie for so long.
Ken: Then go.
Leela: What?
Ken: Go.
Ken: I can't keep you here and I don't want you to stay. I want you to be happy and being here is not where you want to be.
Leela: I can't just leave.
Ken: Please do it. Because if you don't, I'll never forgive myself. I love you too much for that.
Leela: But what about us.
Ken: There is no us. I don't want you here Leela. This is not your home.
Leela: Ken.
Ken: Please Leela. Don't say anymore. Just you being here with me is hurting too much.
He touched her face and brushed the hair from her cheek.
Ken: Go home. Go to your family. This is not for you.
She began to cry as he kissed her.
Leela: Goodbye.
Ken: Goodbye.
He watched as she walked out the door. She gathered her things and was able to get a flight back home. But before she went to find her family she had some unfinished business to take care of. . . . . . Tiffany: I'll get it! Tiffany: LEELA!
Leela: Hello Big Sister Tiffany.
Leela: How could you?
Tiffany: What on earth are you talking about?
Leela: You know what I'm talking about.
Leela: I don't know how you did it but you sent me away on purpose. You sent me back to China.
Tiffany: Oh that? That was so long ago I almost forgot. Is that where you went?
Leela: I know you had something to do with it. My step-father told me. How could you be so conniving?
Leela: To think I looked up to you. And to be treated like I was nothing. All because you felt threatened.
Tiffany: Threatened? THREATENED? He was mine! Blake was mine and because of you he dumped me. Why couldn't you have just did what you were told and stayed away from him.
Leela: First, I didn't go to him. He came to me. Second, we were in love and you didn't like it. Anytime things don't go your way you get rid of it.
Tiffany: You're right! That's exactly what I do. I take what I want. I do it all the time and I can get away with it because of who I am and who my family is. I wanted to be President of this sorority, I bought the votes. I wanted the girls boyfriends and I so I fooled around with them behind their backs. I didn't get where I am by making friends. I got what I wanted by taking it. No one cared about you leaving. I know because it didn't take them long to forget about you. Tiffany: I'm a winner baby! And you, you're a loser! You're nothing! They're all losers. This sorority would be nothing without me.
Brittany: Oh really.
Tiffany: Brittany, Heather. What are you doing?
Brittany: We heard the noise and came to see what was going on?
Heather: So you're the reason Jess broke up with me. Because he was sneaking with you?
Tiffany: What?
Brittany: You know. I was running for Sorority president the same time you were and I lost by a landslide. It's good to know how. All this time.
Tiffany: Brittany. That was so long ago. I was young.
Brittany: Can it Tiffany. You're finished.
Brittany: Your behavior is not exemplary of a Tri Var Sorority sister. And as Vice President, I hereby strip you of your title and your place as a sister.
Tiffany: What? Now let's be rationale about this Brittany.
Brittany: I'm done listening to you Tiff. You're done. Finished.
Tiffany: You can't do that. I AM Tri Var. My family has been Tri Vars for the past three generations. There is no way you can get rid of me.
Brittany: I just did!
Tiffany: Heather. Can you believe what she is talking about?
Heather: You took my boyfriend.
Tiffany: That's not the point Heather.
Brittany: Ladies!!!
They turned their backs to Tiffany.
Tiffany: Fine. Who needs you. This place will be nothing about me. You will be sorry.
She began to walk out the door. But Leela was walked right in front of her.
Tiffany: What do you want?
Leela grabbed her and tugged her down to the ground. The girls began tussling. Leela: I'm happy now! Leela: 1818 Law Road.
Leela took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
She put her ear to the door and could hear people talking or was it the tv.
She knocked on the door and rang the door bell.
Man: I'm coming.
Blake: Leela? Oh my goodness! How? When? I thought . .. .
Leela: Hi Blake.
He grabbed her and held her close.
Blake: Just hold on to me one second. I want to make sure that I'm not dreaming this.
It was as if they had never hugged before.
Blake: It's so good to see you.
Blake: But how did you know where I was. I tried looking for you but it was as if you left off the face of the earth.
Leela: It's a long story. I just had to see you though. I'm sorry to just drop by without calling first.
Blake: No! I'm just so happy to finally see you again. I thought I was never going to see you again.
He hugged her again. She didn't want to let go.
Blake: I'm just shocked. I can't believe it!
He began to talk and ask questions.
Boy: Dad, Mom said did you want anything from the kitchen before she cleaned up.
Leela looked over at the small red haired boy.
Leela: Dad?
Blake: Brody. I want you to meet someone, this is Leela Carter. Leela this is Brody. . . . . my son. Leela: Your son? How long have I been gone?
More to come . . . .
