Ok. So I know that I’m one for a moan but now I’m getting very moody. One of my screenshots “Down by the Riverside” and the latest chapter of “Eyes Open” were both spammed numerous times by an advertiser in the comments section. I deleted the two on Eyes Open, one of the ones on Down by the Riverside and reported the other two that were posted upon it, which were then taken down. But it has just happened again, by the same advertiser with a different TSR name. When I see I have a new comment, I expect it to be from a reader, not GAGA*insert a number here*. I understand that TSR can do nothing to prevent this, but it is seriously annoying me now because I’ve seen it on other peoples work AND creations. SO, dear reader, please help me and hit the REPORT button every time you see an advert like this on anybodys work:

Because I’m getting mighty fed up of my work being SPAMED!

Rant over.

 

Well, let’s start with my good news, because it’s very good for me; I won an academic scholarship to Brunel University in London for my Civil Engineering University course that will (hopefully) start in September! I’m very pleased with myself; out of over 2000 applicants they only give out 150 each year so I’ve done pretty well.

The bad news is that because of this I need to work 6 times harder than ever before and I’m re sitting my whole A level (6 modules) across May and June. Oh joy. This therefore means less Sims time (boo!), so my story progression will be even slower than it has been over the past year.

The bit in-between is that my health is neither decreasing nor increasing; so I’m sort of stable for the moment – hopefully it will stay that way!

Anyway, that’s my little update done!

 

Ahoy there intrepid readers! Well many things have happened since my last blog update so therefore I feel the need to compulsive share it with you all.

Well, primarily, my new chapter of “Eyes Open” is out and featured (whoop whoop). It’s just a little character thingy that explains the “There’s a monster on my lawn” characters. For those of you who don’t know, “There’s a monster on my lawn” is my first story, which is found on the forums right HERE; http://forums2.thesimsresource.com/index.php?/topic/263909-there%e2%80%99s-a-monster-on-my-lawn/. It’s all prettiful in the new forum format and has the pictures so that you can follow the story better.

Secondly, my health and general stuff that is better than any soap opera.

Well, I got onto the A level course after 3 months of screaming at my college’s management staff, and have got 3 exams coming up; two on the 13^th of January and one on the 23^rd of January, so the next story line chapter of “Eyes Open” should be out in February; got about 4 more chapters til it ends.

I went to see the doctor yesterday about my mini stroke; he showed me the MRI scans and heart scans and blood results; none of which made much sense to me, I’m an engineer not a medically inclined person. Basically, they STILL cannot work out what’s wrong with me (6 months and half a pint of blood isn’t long enough apparently), so they took more blood (the vampires in the hospital like my blood) and gave me some strong meds, which are Beta blockers; basically stop headaches and pain ect.

Well that’s all my news.

Yay! After a rather long break for me (I am a serial poster for everything it would seem, I tend to batch upload and post on a regular basis), chapter 11 of my ‘Eyes Open’ series should be ready for submitting! If only my computer would just speed up a bit *kicks processer and it makes a glugging noise*. Oh well, I cannot have everything.

On another note, my profile banner is atrocious! I cannot, cannot, cannot, get my proportions right on it, it’s driving my insane! So everything is rather blurgh at the moment whilst I fiddle with screenshots. Shame that Laura and several other characters cannot co operate so that I can get the screenshots done! You just cannot get the characters these days.

On yet another note; my health and general r.l. issues. Well, I seem to be going in the right direction; albeit at the speed of my PC. I’ve had another round of blood tests done and just awaiting the results, NHS is rather slow in England. The extra qualification is coming along slowly, my college aren’t exactly playing ball to submit me for the exams I need (entry submission for the exams closes next Friday), and they haven’t integrated me into the class either; so even though I’m studying for an hour or two each night I sense I’m falling behind a little. Not majorly though.

Anyway, that’s this month’s update done :)

P.S. Has anybody noticed that I do the ‘...’ thing quite a bit in my blog titles? I think I need to cut it out...

My story, Eyes Open has been going really really well; better than I anticipated! I love playing innocent little Laura and her manipulative mum Claire and writing out the saga that will be Laura’s life, but real life keeps getting in the way *sad face*. Basically, my part time job which was once only 10 hours a week has now stepped up to 25. I’m now back at college doing the equivalent of 3 A levels, but to get into a decent university I need to do another 2 year qualification in a year, get a A grade at it AND I’m self studying it. I’ve also had loads of problems with my health (in June I had a mini stroke. I’m only 17 and spent a week and a half in hospital because of it as they still don’t know what causes it even though they’ve taken so much blood and given me 2 heart scans and 3 MIR scans) and I’m still trying to get back on my feet. All this translates into a major slow down in writing, gaming and building. Much to my disappointment if I’m honest. But unfortunately real life pays the bills for the future. Hopefully I should keep the story to a new one every 2/3 weeks and the odd lot now and then but everything is getting harder. Oh well, back to the grindstone....

I’m rather fed up.

And I’m fed up because of the ratings system.

It’s not because I don’t think that it’s an entirely bad idea; I just feel demoralised every time I look at a piece of work that somebody’s spent time and often ALOT of effort on and it’s rated a 1 or a 2 and more often than not they’re not bad pieces.

Sometimes it’s just because somebody else is jealous of their work and decided to be vindictive with their rating, pulling it down so that theirs can be pulled up the ratings and made to look better.

I completely understand that people are entitled to their own opinions; however it just seems unfair to me that ratings can be swung this way.

For example I love constructive criticism; it always helps me. I know that I’m not the best at taking screenshots, and defiantly not the most elaborate writer in the world but I find it hard whenever I log on and see that my ratings have gone down again; but everybody seems so positive about my work more often than not it just confuses me. I never expect to be rated a perfect 5, never ever ever, but to see something suddenly drop from a 4.5 to a 3.2? That’s a bit far for me, and I know other people take it a lot more personally then me.

Sometimes I just wish that with the ratings you could put down a reason why you rated it like that; perhaps it would cut out the vindictive ratings, even though it would just add time to a simple thing like rating.

Anyway, enough of my pointless moaning for today.

I thought I’d take a chance whilst I have the time and explain some of my main characters from “Eyes Open”. Hope that this removes any ambiguity my imagination has sprung into my story!

Claire Ursine – Claire is predominately a loner. She used to live in a small home by the beach, where she had a brief affair with Jared Frio and created Laura. Scared of the way the community would react to her daughter, she hid her away and went on a quest to create the best life for her.

She threw herself into her job; she couldn’t afford not to slack off and went to find herself a rich husband. She managed to find Stiles McGraw, and married him quickly, falling pregnant at the same time.

Her husband resented the time and devotion she invested in her daughter, and in a fit of jealousy he had her sent away to boarding school. Sonny was born and he was happy to spend all his time with his “true” child.

Claire spent her time constantly weaving her way up the ladder of the criminal underworld and became head of acquisitions and distribution. She is a very powerful woman and easily gives Laura an internship when she comes back from LeFromage.

She disapproves of David and Laura’s relationship as she believes that David, even with his highly paid parents, isn’t worthy of her daughter and that his social status won’t get her to the places she deserves to go.

Stiles died of a heart attack just before the start of term. Claire did not grieve for him as he was having an affair with his co worker Cleo Lane and she hated the way she treated her daughter.

Claire sent her children away to boarding school so that she could get on with her plans to support them with the best life possible.

 

Laura Ursine – The illegitimate child of Claire Ursine and Connor Frio, Laura’s life has been less than idyllic. Left by herself so that her mother could work and then resented by her step father, she was pushed away from her home by her step father.

With a natural flare for art, Laura flourished at LeFromage, her step father’s actions a blessing in disguise.

She still felt alone when her time at LeFromage was over. Sent back to her cold family, she felt unloved and restricted. Her mother gave her an internship at her work, and in turn she worked hard and made friends with her co workers, without being told what the true nature of the business was; shipping illegal and stolen goods on the black market.

She met David Kinman and Jason Manning in the park one lunch time and became instant friends with the two. David showed her affection and love; the first proper person to ever do so and she fell head over heels in love with him. He showed her how to be her own person, making steps towards her releasing her mother’s iron clad hand of control over her.

After her friction with Stiles, one argument went too far and it caused him to have a heart attack. He died and Sonny won’t ever forgive her for making his daddy go away. She returned to LeFromage in the knowledge that she wouldn’t return for a long time.

 

Stiles McGraw – Stiles fell deeply in love with Claire as soon as he saw her. As a member of “Stiles and the Sirens”, Sunset Valley’s most popular band, he was rolling in the money. However after they were married, he resented the attention Claire paid to her daughter Laura, felling neglected and jealous. He sent her away to LeFromage Art School and invested all his efforts into his son, Solomon who was nicknamed Sonny.

Felling rejected, he fell into the arms of his band mate Cleo Lane. After arguing with Laura on and off for months, he died of a stress induced heart attack a few weeks before term began.

 

Solomon ‘Sonny’ McGraw – Sonny is Stiles and Claire’s son. He was showered with love and attention from his father, even though he looks and acts a lot more like his mother. Sonny is turning into a sly and cunning boy, managing to manipulate people at his party so that he could get the first slice of cake; nothing big but enough to set the foundations of an evil streak.

He was deeply traumatised by his father’s death and refuses to forgive his sister for his death.

Solomon was sent away to Smuggsworth Prep at the end of the last chapter.

 

The Manning’s and Kinman’s - The Manning’s and Kinman’s consist of Nathan Manning and his only son Jason, along with his sister Natalie whom is married to Turner Kinman. Together they had a son, David. The Kinman’s helped out Nathan when he got into debt with the loan sharks, taking himself and Jason in. They’ve lived under the same roof ever since. David and Jason were brought up together and are closer than brothers. Natalie and Turner are very well off; Turner is high up in the business world and Natalie in the culinary career. Jason and David both attend Fort Starch Military Academy, a tradition in the Kinman line.

 

The Sirens - The Sirens are three women who, along with Stiles, formed the best selling band “Stiles and the Sirens”. Cleo Lane, Maisy Li and Kayla Duke all play within the band and practise at the McGraw’s Mansion, however don’t have much interaction with the main family. Cleo Lane and Stiles McGraw embarked on a public affair some time before his death. Since the death of their lead singer, the band have split up.

 

There are a lot more characters to come, but I hope this clears up anything that wasn’t understood!

I don’t get much free time to sim; in between college, work, learning to drive and keeping up with my social life I barely have time to eat sleep and drink, let alone sim!

But I love it.

Ever since I was 8 years old and went around my friend’s home to religiously play sims 1 once a week I’ve been hooked; begging my mum to buy it for me every time a new expansion pack came out and the various arguments its caused over the years over bedtimes and being halfway through building a sims their home.

As silly as it sounds, the sims has influenced a lot of what I’ve become. I’ve always loved designing these uber huge homes for my sims; so therefore I have picked the path of construction as my calling and have started to become a structural engineer, which I love just about the same as the sims.

I write sims stories as well. The sims has so much scope and potential for obscure and brilliant pieces of story work that I couldn’t help but attempt to create my own world. I’m pretty proud of it, but I don’t mind good or bad criticism (yes, I am plugging my own story here :P ).
