Here is part 2, cheers for comments :D
"Excuse me?" Josh asked politely, "Could you tell me where April Atkinson lives?" The man was rugged and spoke in a friendly manner.
"Sure kid, but what has she done?" the man laughed.
"Oh nothing," Josh smiled, "Just left her book in the library that's all." He showed the man the library book as evidence.
"Well you better come in then," he told Josh, "I am Jack, April's dad, and you are a friend of April's?" Jack glanced as Josh and saw he was a decent looking lad. He seemed familiar to him somehow but he couldn't put his finger on it. Jack was just happy April had made a friend already. "It's nice to meet you," Josh smiled and introduced himself, "My name's Josh, Josh Randell." He shook Jack's hand firmly. Jack knew who he was there and then. So this was Parker Randall's Son. Well he seemed friendly enough.
"Ah Randall," Jack smiled, "I met your dad a few times, nice guy."
"Thanks," Josh replied, everyone seemed to like his dad.
"You better come in then" Jack smiled walking to the house. Josh stopped for a moment, he caught his breath and felt nervous. God, a girl had never had this affect on him before. Especially one that didn't like him all the much. He laughed at himself for being caught up over a girl and shook his head before following Jack into their house. First impressions of the area were not good and Josh felt a bit snobby. But inside was a different story. It was lovely. He was greeted by a stunning brunette, who could only be April's Mum.
"Hi, I'm Amber, welcome to our home, so you and April are friends?" she pressed with added emphasis on "friends." Had I been downstairs when she asked that I'd have died of embarrassment.
"I'm Josh, it's nice to meet you," Josh said politely. He could see where April got her looks from.
"I best shout for April," Amber smiled, "She's been having a rest." "April hunny," my Mum shouted up to me and disturbed my solitude, "You have a guest." A guest? I sat bolt up right. How was this possible? I knew noone...
I made my way downstairs feeling nervous. Who could it be? My heart skipped a beat or ten. "She won't be long, you should stay for tea," Amber suggested.
"I've love that," Josh smiled, it meant he got to spend more time with me. Damn my mother.
I was shocked to see Josh stood there and it was evident in my face.
"How did you...?" I asked confused.
"You left your book and library cards and all that," Josh beamed, "Told you we would meet again!"
"Oh umm thanks," I smiled, relieved to not have lost them.
"No problem," Josh replied and smiled his rugged smile. I yawned softly, man I was getting more tired day by day. My mum saw me yawn and suggested that Josh and I should go sit down before we ate. We sat down together on my sofa, on opposite polar ends of course. It was a bit awkward. Josh asked me about school and then we talked about our family. Josh told me he got on really well with his Dad but his Mum smothered him a bit.
"So you're not a Mummy's boy then?" I asked cheekily.
"How dare you!" he laughed, "Who told you that!"
"Just something I heard..." I replied. In the background my Mum and Dad were sat waiting for tea to cook. They were being all lovey dovey, as usual and it made me feel awkward. She caressed her husband's hand as Summer played with her toys.
"Your Mum and Dad seem happy," Josh smiled and saw the space between us, "Loved up." He moved right next to me and I felt his knee brush against mine.
"Yes," I managed to reply, why did he have this affect on me? His deep green eyes sparkled and I found myself drowning in his eyes.
"See I was thinking, me and you should hang out more..." Josh replied, "Not a date or anything, just as friends. What do you think?" Thankfully before I could reply our food was ready. Well not my food, I didn't eat that much lately but Josh sat down to his. Mum and Dad left us alone, yet again. It made me think they were planning something. "Mmm, this is nice," Josh said appreciatively, "Your Mum's a good cook! How come you aint eating?"
"I don't really eat a lot this time of night," I told him dodging the dreaded question.
"Oh, well that's cool," he replied trying to change the subject. We talked for a good hour after that about anything and everything. I was surprised about how easy he was to talk to. Plus he made me laugh, usually at him rather than with.
When he said he had to leave, I hoped he'd forgotten about what he asked earlier.
"So can we meet tomorrow night?" he asked hopeful. In the background I could see my Mum nodding away, man she wanted us to be friends.
"Errrrrr," I replied weighing up the idea and giving in, "Ok."
"Cool I will phone you tomorrow after school, see you later!" Josh smiled, "Thanks for having me!" He charmed my Mum and Dad before leaving. My Mum kissed me after he left,
"You've found a nice boy!" she beamed.
"He's not my boy, Mum," I replied embarrassed.
"Yet!" Mum beamed. "Well we liked him, didn't we Summer," Dad replied as he cuddled my sister and she giggled. I walked away and sat down on the sofa. "You're embarassing!" I told them and Mum came over.
"We only want you to be happy, you can't punish yourself..." Mum said softly.
"I know Mum, just hard to be happy sometimes," I replied sadly.
I smiled as I went to my room later and didn't expect to be feeling as happy as I was right now. I would meet Josh, what was the worst that could happen? I left for my private tutouring lesson the next morning with a smile on my face. All thanks to him. I ran to my Mum when home and told her how I'd aced my Maths test. She was pleased and told me she loved me.
"You need to celebrate!" she said. "How?" I asked my Mum interested.
"Oh...Josh called, said he'd meet you at park at 5pm..." Mum tried to sound casual.
"Oh Mum!" I said exasperated. "Don't give me that!" she said lightheartedly, "You deserve a chance at happiness!"
"Ok ok, I'll go," I smiled as I hugged my Mum and went to get ready.
It was another chance for me to get to know Joshua better and I was excited about what could happen...
End of part 2 :D
