x How to get the Sims 2 Downloads into the Game
References
On Windows 7, there might be problems with using the Sims2Pack option, so if you doesn't get it to work, try to Download as ZIP instead. Unfortunately, non-working Sims2Pack files also means Lots can't be installed.
Option 1 - Download as a Sims2pack file
Click on the Sims2pack icon to download, and if you are prompted for it, select "Save As" to save the file to your computer. Open the Sims2Pack file, and you should see the dialog below:
Click Install, and you should get a message saying the content was successfully installed.

The files are now temporarily put in the EA Games\The Sims 2\Teleport folder. From there they are supposed to be installed into the EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads folder the next time you run the game. However, if this doesn't happen (read "On Windows 7"), you may need to use Sims 2 Clean Installer to get them installed.
Option 2 - Download as a Zip file
This is the standard procedure for installing custom content into your game. Please note that certain files (such as stairs and lots) might have additional installation requirements.
Click the download link to save the ZIP to your computer (or open it directly).
Extract:
Use the built-in ZIP handling in the operating system, alternatively WinRAR/Winzip/Stuffit, to extract the .package file(s) from the ZIP file directly to the Download folder.

For Windows Vista Users:
Users\(Your User Account)\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\
For Windows XP Users:
Documents and Settings\(Your User Account)\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\
For Mac Users:
Users\(Your User Account)\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\
What if I don't have a Downloads folder?
Sometimes the Sims 2 installation doesn't create a Downloads folder. Thankfully this is easily fixed, just follow those simple steps:
Go to My Documents (Documents on Vista) on your computer (either through the Start menu or directly from the Desktop).
Double click on EA Games to open that folder, once there double click The Sims 2 to open that folder - ok we're in the right place!
Click on File -> New -> Folder in the folder menu (or right click inside the folder).
The folder should be highlighted by default, so lets name it Downloads (just type it in). If the folder isn't highlighted, click on it to select the folder, then click File -> Rename and type in Downloads.
The folder has been created! The final path to the new folder is now: My Documents(Documents on Vista)\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads
Note the capital D and the plural s on the end - those are important for the files to work properly.
