Previously on Summer Hill . . .
Gamelia was living out of a tent in Sunset Valley, and just barely surviving. She longed to return to Egypt, so she spent all her money on a plane ticket. She returned to the market in Al Simhara where she had previously met the charming and attractive Youssef. This time, he invited her back to his place. The chemistry seemed to be right, but Youssef disapproved of MorcuCorp, a company that Gamelia worked for while in Egypt. In a moment of panic, she lied and said she had no dealings with them. Youssef believed her. She was just about to confess the truth when Youssef admitted that he was falling for her deeply.

She returned to the market in Al Simhara where she had previously met the charming and attractive Youssef. This time, he invited her back to his place. The chemistry seemed to be right, but Youssef disapproved of MorcuCorp, a company that Gamelia worked for while in Egypt. In a moment of panic, she lied and said she had no dealings with them. Youssef believed her. She was just about to confess the truth when Youssef admitted that he was falling for her deeply. Youssef pulled Gamelia close. His whiskers gently pricked her shoulder. After a long, lingering moment, he pulled away saying, "Excuse me for just a minute" He gestured toward the sofa, saying, "Make yourself at home." He gently squeezed her hand before letting go. Gamelia could hear water running in the next room. She sat there thinking about what he had said only moments before, "'I could fall in love with a girl like you' . . . Does he really mean it? Or is he feeding me some kind of line?" Youssef called Gamelia back into the kitchen. He held her hand. "Gamelia, I want to know everything about you."
"Everything?" she gulped.
"Everything," he assured her. "What do you like to eat? What makes you smile? What are your dreams?" "Well . . . hmm . . .," she paused before saying, "Okay, sushi is my favorite dish. Umm . . . my favorite color is red."
"Yes? I like red, too. I have never had sushi," he confessed, kissing her hand, "but I will gladly eat it if it pleases you. Go on. Tell me more." She thought for a moment. "I like classical music. Boothgoven's 37th Symphony is my favorite."
"Ahh... yes," Youssef nodded and smiled.
"I love to read, too. Mostly novels." She hesitated, then admitted, "Someday I hope to be a professional author."
Youssef assured her, "I will read every book you ever write." "Oh, yes!" She remembered, "I can give a pretty decent massage." She demonstrated for him. "But most of all," she smiled shyly. "I want a family of my own." She blushed, surprised at her own candidness. Youssef pulled her close, searching her face. Finally he said, "Gamelia, I am certain that I love you."
She stammered, "L-Love me?"
"Yes, love you." "I want to make you happy. I will do anything for you," he promised. She did not know what to say. After an awkward pause, she kissed him firmly, but quickly on the mouth. It was over before he had a chance to respond. Gamelia's cell phone rang. "Hullo?" Youssef left the room.
"Ms. Sims," said the voice on the other line. "This is Mena Lufti. I really need those flame fruits. When can you--"
"Sorry!" Gamelia interrupted. "Now's not a good time." She hung up the phone. She stretched and cracked her knuckles as she summoned her courage. "Tonight will be a good, good night." She opened what she thought must be the bedroom door. She heard Youssef calling after her, "Gamelia, where are you going?" She plopped onto his bed, and arranged herself as best she could. "Come and cuddle with me, Youssef!"
He entered the room, looking surprised but amused. Gamelia whipped out her camera and snapped a picture of him. She wanted to remember this day forever. They snuggled on the bed together and giggled like children with a secret. Then Youssef got quiet. Suddenly, he turned to her and explained, "Gamelia, I meant what I said. But please do not feel as though you--" She shut him up with a passionate kiss. They continued, breathing heavily between kisses. "Woo . . . hoo!" ***
Later that afternoon as Gamelia showered, Youssef paid for her bags to be brought over from the base camp. Feeling refreshed, she offered to cook a meal. Autumn salad was all she knew how to cook. As clumsy as she was, she nearly sliced off her finger. When she called Youssef to dinner, he came out of the bedroom bare-chested. She wanted to put her hands all over him. Instead, she tried to act normal like she didn't notice. He seemed quite pleased with dinner and with himself as he sat down. Quite by accident, she rubbed her bare foot against his under the table. It made him smile. At bedtime, Youssef noticed that Gamelia looked nervous. He called her over. "What's wrong?" he asked with genuine concern.
"Ummm . . . " she leaned in and whispered as though keeping a secret from the world, "I snore."
Youssef threw his head back and laughed heartily. Then he kissed her forehead and said, "So do I." ***
The next morning, Gamelia woke up as Youssef quietly left the bedroom. She sat up and stretched, then followed after him. He kissed her good morning. Then he started singing, "The night has ended and the sun has risen and the bird sang saw saw." She smiled and listened. He was nearing the end of the song, "And that's the end of someone who doesn't obey--" Suddenly, he pulled away and said, "Excuse me for a moment!" Youssef rushed into the bathroom. Gamelia heard him dialing his cell phone. She listened closely as he said in a hushed voice, "No, I'm leaving now. It's best if you don't come over this morning . . . No, there's no one here . . . I promise. I'll see you later."
 She was taken aback. Did she just hear what she thought she heard? Why was he lying? Did he just call his girlfriend? Gamelia felt like a fool. She had been taken in by his charms. Now she was seething mad.
