*Hello again! This is the third installment of MENACE. We left off with Mia’s aunt having known where Mia was and begging OLiVE not to let Mia go to Fort Starch! :( * “Reia? How do you suppose auntie knew I was here?” I ask Reia. “Somebody must be spying on us.” She responds. “But don’t go worrying yourself, darling. We’ll deal with it.” Reia tells me as she tickles my stomach. I laugh, but only because I can’t help it. Reia figures the spy won’t harm us, as they could have easily led Fort Starch to us, rather than just telling my aunt. And as our home is hidden mostly underground in a thicket of trees... I’m allowed to occasionally play outside in said thicket. This is one of those times. I enjoy the spring rider, then we head inside. I try to relax, playing with my teddy, but I find myself biting it and burying my face to hold back tears. Somebody knows about me, somebody I don’t know. I hear Reia strumming a sad melody, something she does when deep in contemplation. And from downstairs I hear Lucifer’s tune floating to join his sister’s After Reia leaves I hide in my toybox. I don’t feel safe in this room alone anymore, at least if I hide the spy can’t see me. I see a strange woman enter the room. The spy? But before I jump to that conclusion my brain catches up to me and I remember it’s Joan, our mortal butler. She’s an old friend of OLiVE’s and the only mortal we trust. She’s absolutely average, nothing at all special about her

Maybe that’s why she’s such an oddball around this house.
