This Part Two of my story, "The Black Statue." A quick recap, in part 1, Francis' mother discouraged her son from thinking that the statue talks to him, and that he should forget about that so-called "Laxia Clan." One night, Francis is awakened by a mysterious voice that calls him out of the house. Francis, without even thinking, went to the lady on the bridge. "Leila? Is that really you?" Francis asked, staring blankly at the beautiful creature in front of him. "Of course, dear child... it's me, Leila... your friend," The lady replied in a caring voice. Francis rushed in the arms of his friend and immediately hugged her. "I knew I wasn't making anything up! I knew you were real!..." Francis declared. "Now, now... don't cry..." "Mom didn't believe me!" Francis said, tears streaming from his eyes, "I feel as lonely as ever!" Leila hugged Francis even tighter. "That's why I am here... to ease the pain... stop crying now, everything will be all right... I promise." Leila said, trying her best to comfort Francis. "Come with me, I know a place that will make you feel better, Francis." Leila said, beckoning Francis to come with her. "Where are we going? Are we going to that place you told me about? To the place where you said your ancestors lived?" Francis excitedly asked her. "Just come with me. Patience, my dear little boy... You'll see in the right time." Back at the family bedroom, Lady Vanessa was peacefully sleeping, unaware of the events taking place. Her husband was on the balcony couch, also sleeping, as he preferred the cool night air. Lady Vanessa was suddenly awakened by the sound of lightning. She realized that it had already begun to rain. She went up to check on her son to ensure he isn't bothered by the storm, and to call her husband in. "Francis... Francis, son, are you all right?" When she got up, to her great shock, her son was no longer in his bed! "Oh my goodness gracious! Handel! Come immediately! Our son is not in bed!" Sensing what might have happened, Lady Vanessa, not minding the storm, rushed outside the house. She was too late. She got out just in time to see a lady holding her son disappear in what appeared to be a portal. She stood on the bridge, helpless, not knowing what to do. Finally, she broke down in tears. "I am so sorry Francis... I had to keep the truth from you... I did not have the courage to tell you... I was not able to protect you... oh Francis! I will give anything just to get you back, just to bring back time!" She sobbed hysterically, regretting all that she had done. Lord Handel had followed his wife. He got there just in time to hear what his wife was saying. He went to his wife, but instead of being angry that his wife hid many things from him... He hugged her comfortingly. "There now, dear, we will get our son back... There is always hope.." Lady Vanessa laid her head on her husband's shoulder "I am so sorry, dear... I kept many things from you. I knew from the beginning that I should have told you everything... but now, it is too late... oh what have I done!?" "Don't lose hope... I know that we will get our son back. I am with you always... do not ever forget that. We will do this together..." Handel assured his wife. Back inside, Vanessa finally calmed herself down. They both sat down in the couch. "Now I know that you have some explaining to do, my dear. So let's not waste time anymore. Tell me what I am supposed to know." Handel said in a firm voice. Lady Vanessa looked at her husband in the eye, and her husband gave her his "You-can-trust-me" look. Lady Vanessa took a deep breath and started to tell everything. "You see, it all started with our son. About a month ago, he started "communicating" to that statue we have outside. I told him not to do it anymore, since it is not good for him to believe that the statue is communicating back to him." "Wait a minute," Handel interrupted. "You mean that statue we have outside? The one you said your grandparents gave you?" "Yes," Vanessa replied. "So, what's your point now? Do you know anything about this? Are you now telling me that when I saw you talking to that same statue weeks ago, you literally meant it? I don't understand... what's going on!?" Handel replied in a confused, analyzing look. "You will know more things later," Vanessa replied, sensing that it would not be easy to convice her husband. She has to SHOW him, she thought. "What you need to know that the events that took place this night is all related to that statue outside. That is all you need to know for the meantime," Vanessa replied. "But I have something to show you." Vanessa's tone changed, from a confident one, to a doubting and worrying tone. "But promise me... that you will not leave me no matter what happens and no matter what you see..." Lord Handel gave Lady Vanessa a reassuring hug. "I love you, and I will always stick with you no matter what. Through thick and thin, remember?... so, show me what you need to show me." They both went outside to the balcony. Lady Vanessa stood on one corner, looked up to the heavens, and uttered the words:
"Ancestors, hear my plea, Open up your hearts to me, Grant me this I ask of you, Change me back to who I should be!"
At first, it seemed as if nothing happened...
Then a shining blue light appeared out of the dark night sky, brighter than any star any human being has seen from earth. The bright light descended from the heavens, and came upon Lady Vanessa. She was then surrounded by a bright blue light... And in the blink of an eye, Lady Vanessa changed in front of Lord Handel. "Oh my goodness!" Handel exclaimed, still in a very big shock, "I cannot believe what I am seeing!" At the same time, the statue downstairs began to glow... The light, an orange one, became stronger and brighter... And brighter... And changed into a young woman.
