"Anneliese Genevieve de la Fontaine!" I heard Helena, my mother, yell. "What is this?"
I looked over to see her holding the newspaper in my face.
"I don't know, could be anything. It kind of looks like a newspaper to me," I said, sarcastically.
She put her hand on her hip and starting tapping her heels on the ground.
"This, is YOU, on the front cover of the Springfield Chronicle! What on Earth were you thinking!?" She yelled.
I got up to take a closer look at the paper. It was a picture of me with a wine glass, looking like I was asleep, kissing some random guy.
"Seriously? This made the front cover? I thought it was a newspaper, not a magazine." I laughed.
"Young lady, this is not funny! There will be serious consequences for this!"
"Honey! Helena!" I heard Helena's boyfriend, Jeremy, yell all the way through the house. He walked in the living room. Great, he found us. "What the hell? My coworkers were laughing at the newspaper that just happened to have your daughter on the front cover!"
She went over and comforted him. Yeah, like he reaaally needed to be comforted at a time like this. Pathetic.
"I know, honey," she said, puckering her lips as if she were talking to a child. Disgusting.
"I was just telling Anneliese that there will be consequences for her actions."
I scoffed. "What are you gonna do, spank me and send me to my room?"
Jeremy took a step forward and put his finger in my face. "You do not speak to your mother that way! Both of our jobs are on the line because of you."
"Aw, boo hoo. Cry me a freaking river. If you wanted to keep your silly little job, maybe you should have never decided to date a celebrities mother!" I screamed right back in his face. "Anneliese! That is enough!" Helena yelled. I just rolled my eyes.
"Some one needs to put this little brat in her place," Jeremy told my mother.
"Who the hell are you to talk to me like this?" I turned to my mother, "Mom? Are you seriously going to let him speak to me like that?"
She just stood there and said nothing. Typical Helena.
"You know what, I don't need this. I have enough to worry about right now."
I could have sworn that when I started walking off I heard Jeremy say, "Like what, which stranger you're going to kiss next?"
I can't believe my mother is with that jerk. It's not like her actually cares about her. He's only dating her so that he can get ahead in his law firm but bringing in lots of new clients who want to meet her. Which makes no sense, since I'm the famous one. You don't see her on the front cover of any newspapers.
I dug my hands deeper into my pockets and walked faster. I could hear the thunder and I just knew rain was coming. I should have grabbed my umbrella.... It was pouring down and I still had no idea where exactly I was headed to. Just walking, I guess. I needed the fresh air. I turned back around and made my way back to my house. "Annie! Annie!" I thought I had heard someone call out. I looked around. No on was there. Maybe I'm just imagining thins. "Annie! Annie!" The voice got louder and closer. There is absolutely no way I'm just imagining that. This time I turned around and saw Kellie Major running towards me. "Hey! Did you hear me calling for you?" she said, finally catching up to me.
"Obviously I did, or I wouldn't have kept turning around like a paranoid schizophrenic."
She laughed. "Oh, Annie! You're so hilar! Anyway, are we still on for tomorrow nights party?"
"Of course. It is Blake's party, after all. We have some... catching up to do, if you know what I mean." I winked.
"Oh, you two are so perfect for each other!" she squealed. "Well, I guess I should go shopping for a dress! I'll see you tomorrow!"
I waved goodbye as she crossed the street. I didn't realize it was even still raining until her umbrella was gone. Great. I started running as fast as I could to make it home. Once I actually made it home, I was dry and the sun was beaming down on me. I hate how bipolar the weather can be sometimes.
I walked into the living room and Helena was sitting down, as if she were waiting for me.
"Woah, way creepy, Helena." I said.
"Anneliese, sit down."
"No thanks. Unless you want me ruining the couch."
Not that she should care anyway, I basically bought it.
She stood up and walked over to me.
"Anneliese..."
"What? Why are you acting like someone died?" I asked her.
"Nobody died."
"Aw, man! I was hoping you would say it was Jeremy," I sarcastically joked. Although deep down I really meant it. Not really deep down, closer to the surface, actually.
She gave me a scolding look, but quickly recovered with her sorrow face. Why is she acting like this?
"Helena, what's going on?"
"Well.. Jeremy proposed to me tonight and I said yes-"
"It won't last," I sang, as I interrupted her.
"but that's not why I wanted to speak to you. I really wish you would sit down..."
"Really, I'm fine standing. Nothing that comes out of your mouth next can be nearly as bad as you marrying a guy who only wants you for my fame."
"We talked it over, and we both decided that we think it's best if you take a little break from being an actress. We think you should go stay up in Fresno with your Grandmother."
"What?" I stared at her, surprised at such a stupid suggestion. "This was his idea, wasn't it?" I started yelling for him. I wanted him to come down her so I can give him a serious piece of my mind. Or maybe my fist.
"Anneliese, stop! It was my idea."
I stopped yelling. Certainly she was covering for him, right? I looked at the complete sorrow still in her face and backed away from her.
"How could you... All over a... Guy?"
"It's not because of Jeremy!" She snapped. "This is for your own good! Your behavior is out of control ever since your 18th birthday! You're so out of line, Anneliese!"
I just looked at her.
"You're been drinking, partying all night. Lord have mercy, you passed out last night and ended up in the newspaper! The NEWSPAPER!"
"You can't do this to me. You said it yourself, I'm eighteen years old. I'm an adult now," I said confidently.
"I can do this. By state law, it says I can until I'm ready to stop." I hate that law. "I am still your mother. You need some times out of the spotlight. Your grandmothers place can help you with that."
"Why do you keep calling her that!? I don't even know her!" I yelled, on the verge of tears.
"But you'll get to know her, and trust me, you will love her," she explained.
"What, like you did? You loved her so darn much that you left her at sixteen years old with nothing but a note on your desk! That does not sound like love."
"There were complicated circumstances involv-"
"And trust you? Since when have I ever been able to trust you? All you do is lie! It's all you have ever done."
"Pack your things, Anneliese. You leave tomorrow."
"Tomorrow? You really do hate me," tears were seriously rolling down my face, now. Not because I think she hates, but because she's making me leave my own house! One that I bought!
"I don't hate you. This will be good for you, Annie."
"Yeah, well I hate you. I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!" I yelled as I started running up the stairs. I could be wrong, but I think I heard her say "I know you do."

Your heroine looks really a spoiled reckless young star, that had too much fame a bit too early.
