Hurricane
Chapter 4, part I, «Screwdrivers»

Well, you guys are probably thinking why I split this chapter in two parts, but it seemed more reasonable considering that the both parts are kinda... non related. I think.

With the splitting (I didn't even knew this word existed... - hey, don't judge me, I'm portuguese!), this 1st part turns out to be a bit... small in terms of images, but I think you'll forgive me since I'll submit 2nd part right away too. x)

Oh well, anyways, enjoy!

After a long consider, I was following, along with a heavy awkward silence, in the humble junkyard car, available to all employees. Jasen's last statement still lingered in my head, causing me a brief suspicion of him, not to mention the hair bristling. I cleared my throat subtly, hesitant. "You weren't serious when you said..." I ended up not finishing the sentence.

Jasen took his eyes off the road, staring at me with a questioning gaze. Quickly, his expression became fun.
"You didn't took that seriously, did you?" He asked.

“Maybe. I don't know you from anywhere – right now, I believe you're capable of anything.”

He looked at me again. "You really think someone with a face like this would be capable of such atrocities?"

Smug. "I think someone with a face like that is quite capable of using it to hunt preys and then do its evil deeds."

He let out a surprised ah. "So you're admitting that I'm attractive?"

Jasen was staring at me entertained, waiting for an answer and puzzled about how it would be.

"I never said such thing." I replied, without taking the eyes off the curvy road.

This time he didn't contain the laughter. I glimpsed him sideways, the laughter formed by the husky and deep voice increasingly seductive.
The car suddenly stops and, immediately, I look out the window the tree house surrounded by darkness. Just the thought that this would be my first night in it caused me chills. "We're here." Jasen stated. "After all, your house is not as far as you said. During the day, you do this road in minutes."

"Right. Um, thanks. You shouldn't have bothered bringing me." I said, shyly.

"It's okay. Don't forget you still owe me one."

I settled aside on the old passenger seat. "And by the way, may I know what do you intend with that?"

He approached. "For now, no. I have to think very well how I'll take advantage of this rare opportunity."
I could feel his breath close to my face and the eyes resting on my trembling lips . The sound of his hand scraping on his jeans fabric and approaching mine, made me lean back quickly on the seat. I tried to control both my breath and anxiety. What the hell was I thinking? After a brief sigh, Jasen took the same act. "Can I ask you a question?"

Damn it. "If I can answer."

"Why were you troubled with that comment in the junkyard?"
Surprised, I quickly turned my face towards him. I met his eyes in an inquiring twist, studying my reaction.

Instantly, I looked away, avoiding collapse in the middle of the lie. "I wasn't. It just isn't very common to get such comment."

Not too convinced, he accepted the answer willingly, without insisting. I exhaled a short breath of air in order to split the node that was in my throat.
Again, the same silence as before had installed between us. I looked at the clock where the little pointer marked nine o'clock.

"I don't want to hold you back more than I did; I'd better go." I said, breaking the silence. "Once again, thank you."

Jasen nodded. "You're welcome. See you tomorrow then."

I showed a shy smile in reply while leaving the rusty car.
In the night, I observed in communion with the icy wind the old van that was moving away in the horizon. I couldn't help but suspect of the charming stranger who I just met, but something told me there was nothing wrong with him. At least, for now.
