Well, today we will continue and you'll find out if it's ever going to be alright between the two. Enjoy reading :-D. The morning light already slipped through the wooden windows when Alicia stepped into the dusty room.
"Serena, get up. You're already late," she whispered. She tried to wake her up and pulled her out of bed. Serena's eyes widened and she looked startled around her room. She leapt out of bed and yawned.
"Mrs. Hunt told me you have to work in the garden," Alicia said to Serena, who was sitting on her bed again with sleepy eyes. "Are you alright? I've heard what happened between you and Trevor yesterday." "Hmm," Serena moaned and sighed piteously. "So now everyone knows?"
"Almost everyone," Alicia answered. Serena nodded briefly and rose from her bed. She sent Alicia away and looked for some old clothes to put on. "Stupid girl," Serena mumbled to herself. Absently, she stuck the fork into the hay bale. Her mind was somewhere else. She wasn't really there. It was her body who did all the work, not her mind. She felt like a zombie, doing everything automaticly without thinking. She just couldn't concentrate .. Because Abigail and Trevor were standing not far away from her. And it really looked like they were flirting with each other. She looked up and saw them laughing at each others jokes. "I'm glad the old Trevor is back," Abigail giggled. Her green eyes were fixed on him. The vacant look on his face worried her.
"What's wrong, Trevor?" She lifted her head and turned around. She felt a touch of jealousy, he wasn't looking at her at all. He was looking at Serena the whole time. "Hm, yeah," he answered her briefly, and nodded. With his eyes squeezed shut and mouth clenched he looked at the girl he once loved, and still loved. But it hurt. He looked away and made his way inside the institution. I wonder what they have been talking about. Probably about me.
The rest of the morning and midday Serena worked in the garden. It was almost 18 o'clock when she decided to go inside and skip dinner. She went upstairs, taking a warm shower to clear her mind. "What are you trying to do, Trevor? Make her jealous?" Alicia confronted. Dinner was just ended and the two were just chilling on the couch.
"What are you talking about?" Trevor answered, not knowing what she was talking about.
"I've seen you and Abigail flirting with each other. Immature of you to do that in front of her. Seriously, what's your point?"
"Flirting? It was nothing. I mean, come on, it's Abigail .. " he defended himself. He snorted angrily and turned his gaze away from Alicia. "Oh come on, Trevor, what the heck is your problem? Have you ever told her about Wynona?"
Startled, he looked up at Alicia. Defeated, he shook his head. "You're right," he admitted. "You're right."
He rose from the couch and left Alicia sitting there alone. He knocked on one of the girls doors. He hoped it was the right one.
"Yeah, who's there?" A familiar voice spoke.
"It's me. Trevor. Can I come in?" It remained silent for several seconds.
"Sure," Serena eventually answered. "What do you want, Trevor?" Serena asked impatiently and nervously rubbed her hands against her bare arms.
"I know you're angry at me and I'm angry at you too." He struggled to say something, but nothing seemed to came out.
"I just haven't been completely honest with you, and that's why I want to show you something. Are you in for it?" Trevor tried again with a gentle smile.
Leisurely, Serena turned around and nodded. He grabbed her hands and pulled her slowly towards his bedroom.
"This is my own bedroom. Yeah, I have one too. I just don't sleep here anymore," he gulped. "And this is the reason why." He let go of her hands and opened the door. The first thing that struck Serena was the big painting hanging on the wall. Then, her eyes moved down and fixed on the little picture frame standing on the wardrobe.
"Who is this?" she asked slightly startled.
"My ex-girlfriend. Wynona. I kept everything she gave me. I don't know why. I think I can't let go of the past, I guess." He stepped forward and pointed at the little plush bear sitting next to the picture frame.
"Even this ugly bear she gave me for my birthday," he chuckled. He searched for her arms and grabbed them gently. He pulled her slowly towards himself and wrapped his arms around her. He swallowed his grief and kissed her on her forehead.
"You want to tell me what happened?" she asked him, looking at his dreary face. The corners of his lips were directed downwards. He nodded and grabbed her more tight.
Soon he would tell her what happened. Why he became the person he was now, why he ended up in this institution. Why his faith in people disappeared.
