Fist off I need a job, there’s a post at the local book shop for a cashier so I think I’ll go check it out. Guess what…I got the job. Oh yeah, Oh yeah (do happy dance) so the money’s not great but it’s a start. I have plans, big plans. One day I’m gonna be rich and live in a big house and have a flash car, eh maybe two and a huge swimming pool and…. Okay first off I have to sort this place out like I need to get something to sit and sleep on. Well helloo. First day on the job and I meet a hunk. He’s name is Conner Frio, kinda sounds like the pastry you know Frio/filo and he is yummy. He’s a checker thingy for the local rag, I have no idea what that is.
Seeing me speaking to Cornelia Goth he warned me not to get friendly with her, I have no idea why, she seems odd but nice but I’d much rather chat to Mr Freaking handsome here. We did talk for a while and exchanged cell numbers, wouldn’t it be great if he rang. Things are going well. I like my job, not love but hay what can a girl do. I joined the local gym in the hopes of making friends. I hope no-one notices how clumsy I am. I have a nice home and Mr Hunky rang, we only chatted and he’s not asked me out for a date but fingers crossed. Cornelia and I have spoken too, I know Conner said she is strange but she’s always nice to me.
The only thing is – well there’s not anything wrong just creepy. Have any of you seen the some of the locals I mean talk about peculiar; they have a strange look about them like they glow and their eyes – bizarre. Cornelia came round one night. She was the same, goofy cloths, doom and gloom attitude but there was something I couldn’t put my finger on. I’ve learned all the Goths are eccentric. Her husband Gunther is some big CEO, their like the founders of Sunset Valley which is cool.
Cornelia seemed to be hungry but when I offered to make her something to eat she said she couldn’t possibly touch food. Maybe she’s a vegetarian or something. Anyway she was admiring my home and suggesting I maybe paint it to brighten it up which sounds fantastic – if I had money. I suddenly realised that I would need a lot of money to fix this dump. Cornelia was really nice, giving me a hug and she seemed as upset as I as she was sniffing.
“Things have a way of working out” she’d said. I don’t know how, I couldn’t ask my folks for help as they’d just had another kid –twins. Cornelia rested her hand on my shoulder “Give it a few days. I guarantee that things will be different, you will be different.” I gave a pained smile and nodded.
Then suddenly Cornelia bit me. I mean fully, sink your teeth bit me. I tried to pull away but she was strong, super strong. I screamed, pleaded then begged. She let go and I felt dizzy and sick. I staggered and I swear I saw red smoke and bats but that was probably from blood loss.
BLOOD LOSS! “You…you drank my blood?” Cornelia licked her lips and grinned “It’s really quite delicious.”
“But…but…..” She waved at me dismissively as she went to the door “Go to bed Sam, thinks will be different, better, you’ll see.” She was gone. Wirily I headed to my bed, too tired to think about the strange evening. Two days later I padded into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I Squealed. What on earth, I looked the same only different. My amber eyes glowed and my skin looked shimmery and - fantastic. In fact I looked better than I had since I was a kid. Wait a minute – Cornelia bit me, drank my blood. The locals with shimmery skin and glowing eyes and, I ran my tongue over my teeth, yep – fangs.
Vampires, they were blood suckers, creatures of the night and now I was too.
