I looked up and surveyed the front of the mansion. It was three storeys high, of proportions not vast, though considerable; a gentleman's manor-house, not a nobleman's seat; battlements round the top gave it a picturesque look. Its front stood out well from the background...where an array of mighty old thorn trees, strong, knotty, and broad as oaks, at once explained the etymology of the mansion's designation. Farther off were hills; not so lofty as those round Lowood, nor so craggy, nor so like barriers of separation from the living world; but yet quiet and lonely hills enough, and seeming to embrace Thornfield with a seclusion I had not expected to find existent.... --Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre
I made this lot with nothing but love in my heart, as Charlotte Bronte is my favorite author (and she's also a fellow Taurus, born the same day I was--Go Team Taurus!) and Jane Eyre is my favorite novel. Inspired to create a Gothic lot, I naturally chose Thornfield Hall as my inspiration. I entered the lot at a building contest last month and won 3rd place (the competition was STIFF!) and after a little run through the Exchange I decided to share my lot (modified a bit--TSR Style ^-^) with everyone here! I added a few things and took out some others, but the general layout is the same--3 live-in floors, with 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, a laundry room, rustic kitchen, gothic dining room, quaint reception parlour, a grand drawing room, sophisticated study, and underground cellar--all for your simming pleasure. Enjoy!
