Hi everyone! It's finally out; Under the Same Moon 2. I'm starting to think I have a curse put on me cuz it took me so long to write the story. Then, when I try to put it on here, the site deletes it! I don't know what I'm gonna do when the stories get longer. Anyway, without further ado... Paris' hands were drenched in sweat, but she managed to grasp the door handle and turn it. She was experiencing all kinds of emotions; devastation, apprehensiveness, abhorrence: she had just found out Lucius might not be her father. He might not even be related to her in any way. She was a wreck; her eyes were red from crying, her skin was pale, and her legs were shaking as if they would give way at any moment. Just go in, her conscience told her, he won't even notice how torn up you look. She walked into one of Lucius' neurotic house cleanings. He didn't even notice she walked in. Paris quickly made her way to the bathroom. There, she pulled herself together. She washed her face and put some eye drops in her eyes to cure the redness. She aggressively brushed her teeth, as if she was trying to clean the taste of disgust out of her mouth. She made her way to the door. "I'm going to Travis' house," she said softly. "Huh? Sure," Lucius said, not even looking as he scrubbed the sink. "I love you, Dad," she said and waited for his response. A distracted "uh huh" was his response. Heartbroken, she walked out. She walked to Travis' house. She and Travis had been friends since they don't know when. He even used to have a crush on her, but it died out once Paris made it clear she wasn't interested. He was always the one for her to turn to whenever things got rough between her and Lucius. She just had to tell him what happened. "You're funny," Travis said amused, "Maybe that'll actually happen to me and I'll be outta this hole in the wall."

Paris let out an irritated sigh; "No, I'm serious. I was making pancakes this morning when I took a good look at the picture in the missing persons ad. It had my name under it! I called them at school today; they said that this case had been open for a decade and a half. For ages, he's never even mentioned my mom. Now I find out she might be living in Sunset Valley, the place we're going for school! Don't you get it? It's fate!"
Travis callously laughed; “Wow, wish for something long enough…”

Paris looked at him in incredulity, as if to scream 'what's that supposed to mean?!' Instead, she said, "Your sarcasm amazes me. I'm telling you this because I care about your opinion and you're too busy being a jerk!"

Paris' mordant words smoldered through Travis' emotional armor, causing him to blurt out the truth: "Look, I'm sorry," he said softly, "I just...I don't wanna see you go...if this is true. You're my best friend, Paris."
In the seventeen years they had been friends, Paris had never seen this side of Travis. She felt horrible for accusing him of being unfeeling without even considering what he was feeling. She looked down and snickered; "Hey, you're not gettin' soft on me, are you? Even if it is true, I'll keep in touch." Travis laughed, "Well, I feel more at ease now. By the way I can't go on the trip; I think I caught my little bro's head lice." He vigorously scratched his head and quivered his leg like a dog. Paris laughed; she often pointed out this strange tic of his, but he never noticed.

"What?" Travis asked noticing the huge smile on her face. "Nothing," replied Paris stifling a chuckle, "It's getting late; I should go. Be sure to wash your hair tonight."

"If I remember, I sure will," Travis said.
She said her goodbyes and left. Upon returning home, she noticed Lucius had turned in for the night. Physically and emotionally exhausted from today's events, she dumped herself on the couch and fell right to sleep. Paris woke up the next day with a clear plan. She knew what she had to do. Paris went through her usual morning routine, minus breakfast. She grabbed the keys and ran out the door. As she made her way down the stairs, she noticed someone standing beside the mailbox. Paris squealed with joy: "TRAVIS!" She squeezed him tight as if to see if he was real. Seeing him sent a surge of bliss and relief to her very core; she felt as long as he was there, nothing and no one could hurt her.

"Paris....I...can't...breathe...." Travis struggled to blurt out.
"You're such a baby!" She let him go. "So I'm guessing the head lice was a false alarm?"

"Yep," Travis said happily, "this head is lice-free. Anyway I was hoping to catch a ride to school with you."

"I was just heading there," she said.
They got in her beat up Hontō and drove to school. Her anxiety slowly rose as she realized that she was on the way to finding out the truth. THE END

Thanks to all the people who commented the first story! I'm so sorry I kept you waiting. I really want to get the same or more comments than my last story (collectively, I got 18 comments).
