(Author's note: Thanks for anyone who rated, commented, or just read my story. I appreciate it all!) "Hey Matt, what's up?" I said into the phone. It was Sunday morning, and Matt was calling me about who knows what. "Hey, Penny. I was wondering if I could come over...we kinda need to talk." I paused for a second. Talking? Can that be good. "Uh, sure." I said. So, after the initial greeting kiss, I said, "So, what do you want to talk about?" He motioned to the couch in my bedroom. "Sit." He requested. Then he grimaced. "Hmm...I don't like your outfit, Penny." It kind of hurt me, but I guess while he was holding my hands I got over it. At first, we talked a little just about school and stuff, then we might have... gotten a bit distracted. After finishing our first ever makeout session, I laughed. "Okay, okay, let's talk." He put his hand on my cheek. "Okay, well, you see..." "Yeah?" I urged him to go on and put a reassuring hand on his wrist to help him keep going. He gently took his hand off my face and continued, "These last few weeks I have spent with you have been really great, but..." I looked away and closed my eyes. "Oh, God, I know where this is going..." I trailed off. Is he-what I thought he-oh, no. He slowly walked past me, as if he was planning to make an escape. If he was, he showed no signs of leaving. He raised his arms, as if he didn't know, "I'm sorry, I just don't think that we have that much, you know, chemistry." "Chemistry? Well, you're the one who's bipolar. First, you say you don't like my outfit, and then you start kissing me? What is up with that. You always seem to be a jerk and then all sweet." I yelled back. "Me, bipolar?" He shouted. "That's the dumbest thing anyone's every told me!" "And sure," he continued, "Okay, we just made out on the couch, and now we're fighting. I just don't think you were all that into it, ok?"
"Seriously, Matt, just because we kiss and you don't feel much isn't a good reason to end this! You know there's more to relationships than getting physical, you jerk!"
I threw my hands up. "Okay, just leave Matt. Just go. I don't want to see you or talk to you. I'm totally done with you." I said calmly. I waited until I heard his car pull out of the driveway and watched him until I couldn't see his car anymore. I locked my doors, and turned on the shower and sinks in my bathroom. I drew the shades. When I was sure my parents couldn't walk in on me or hear me, I just let it out. I sobbed as hard as you can sob. For an hour, I just indulged myself in soap operas on my laptop and tears. The next morning, it was a stupid Monday. Mom was setting Dad's cereal bowl down at breakfast when she glanced at me. A worried look formed on her face. "Honey, is something wrong?" she asked me. I lifted my head. "Um, no mom. I'm-I'm fine." But the truth is, I was trembling wreck on the inside. I just really thought Matt was the guy for me. Mom came over, the worried look still on her face. She gently sat my bowl down. I stared at it blankly. "You eat up, sweetie." Mom said before ruffling my hair and setting the bowl into the sink. Just then, dad jogged into the kitchen. "Hey, Penny." He said, and kissed the top of my head. "Hi Dad." I said quickly. I had taken three bites when it was time to go to school. "Oh, um, gotta run." I told my parents. I shot out the door and onto the bus.

I hate school...
When I got home from school, I ripped open my report card. My eyes scanned my grades. B-, C, D, D+, B, F. I looked up at the sky and raised my hand. "Why, God, why?" I asked. Like he would answer. I threw my homework in the garbage and changed my clothes. I headed downstairs and poured some soda into a glass and took a bag of potato chips from the cupboard. Okay, so I had been eating garbage. But my boyfriend broke up with me, and I'm still recovering. I walked into the living room to watch some TV and I spot mom and dad, talking to each other. "Oh, hi honey. Can you sit here for a minute?" Mom patted the small couch near hers. I sat. "What's up?" I asked. Mom started, "Well, we have some...important news for you." Mom smiled. "Oh, we're not moving again, right?" I asked. Mom laughed. "No, no. Something very different." I tried to think of the possibilities, but I was stumped. "Well, what is it?" I pondered. Dad was talking now. "Okay, are you ready for this?"
