Thank you for watching this. Rate this story and comment please ;) Once upon a time, on the borders of a great forest, far away, there lived a woodcutter with his wife and two children. His second wife often ill-treated the children and was forever nagging the woodcutter. The family had little enough to eat, and once there was a great famine in the land. The man could no longer even get them their daily bread. The father sent the children to sleep. Gretel obeyed but Hansel just pretended to do it. When he knew his parents were not looking at him, he hid behind the staircase. He was sure about the fact that something important was worrying his father and annoying his stepmother, so he was hidden to listen the conversation.
The poor woodcutter said to his wife, "What are we to do? There is only one loaf of bread left and I fear we shall starve."
"We must get rid of the children," answered his wife. "Tomorrow we will take them into the wood and leave them there. They will never be able to find their way home."
"Oh no!" said the father, "I could not leave them there to starve." "Well, we shall all starve together if they stay with us," answered his wife, "so it will come to the same thing in the end."
And she talked to her husband until she made him promise to do as she had said.
Hansel was terrified after listen to this words. He thought of Gretel and felt pity for her. He was determined to protect her and himself too. He entered the kitchen when the parents went to sleep and grabbed a piece of bread. He was planning to leave a trail of crumbs behind him to mark the way while they were going through the forest, so he would find his way back home at night. The next morning the wife came and woke the children very early. She told them they must get up and dress themselves quickly.
"You shall go with us to the forest today, while your father cuts wood," she said.
Hansel crumbled the bread into small pieces, and these he dropped along the way. When the children were tired, after walking through the forest, their father told them to gather wood so he could make them a fire.
"You can rest until we come back," he said, so they rested by the fire.
At a certain point, the two children found they really were alone. Night fell but the woodcutter and the stepmother did not return. Gretel began to sob bitterly. Hansel too felt scared but he tried to hide his feelings and comfort his sister.
"Don't cry, trust me! I swear I'll take you home even if Father doesn't come back for us!"

Thank you!!! Yes, Hansel is a very lovely child, he is very protective and very responsible of his little sister. He is very mature despite of his youngness. However the stepmother is cruel and is very unfair to the children \:\(
