Hello all! Here is Chapter 1 of Hat Trick
Investigations, a follow up to the prologue published a few weeks ago. Thank you for your feedback. Whew, storytelling is a hard job, lol! But I'm learning as I'm going!
I had some issues with save errors and crashes and whatnot so I had to start fresh.
Hope you enjoy! :-)

A PI's work is never done, and as head of Hat Trick Investigations it's my job to man the phones as people call us for help. Just a few short days ago I received a call from Tahiya Shalut, a soon to be client desperately in need of a small but invaluable statue that had disappeared from her art gallery last week. I remembered seeing something about it in the paper as it seemed the statue was quite a big deal. Rumor had it the artifact had mystical powers, but I had my doubts. I knew of it's monetary value, but anything magical I assumed was an old wives tale. Something that was more than likely created by someone to help boost what it was worth to collectors. Tahiya spoke of how she tried but failed to locate the item on her own going by her gut instinct on who she thought may have been responsible. It turned out to be nothing but a dead end. She was now enlisting Estelle and I to travel to Al Simhara to seek out her prized posession and return it to it's rightful spot in her gallery. Tahiya told us money was no object. She needed to have the statue back to feel complete, and we were just the ones to make that happen. Estelle and I discussed the best strategy to start with. I then did a bit of investigating at home prior to our trip, hoping to dig up something that would help once we got to Al Simhara.
Word had it that the place we would more than likely find the statue was an underground hideout for a notorious crime unit that goes by name 'Khet'.
So, off to the airport we went, sans my husband Tripp. Estelle and I were pretty confident we could pull this off without him.
As we stepped off the plane and journeyed to our hotel, I realized we did not visit this lovely place nearly enough!
I only wished we could take a few days to enjoy the beauty of Al Simhara. I walked alone on the way to the hotel, well behind Estelle. She had a tendency to go a little stir crazy on long flights! But when she saw her hotel room, she was in a much better mood! Too bad we wouldn't be spending much time there. It seemed that Khet had two different hideouts; one where they lived and held their meetings, and another where they kept their stolen goods. One hideout was much easier to find than the other! But after a few days of digging around, spying, questioning, and bribing, we were able to find the important hideout, the one hopefully housing Tahiya's statue. The tomb itself was overrun with bugs and traps. Estelle had complained several times of hunger and exhaustion and I couldn't blame her because I wasn't up to snuff myself. We were lucky enough to find some chairs and lighted rooms that would allow us to eat some dried fruit, rest, and chat just a bit. Once we were rested up, we continued through the door where I found yet another activation trap. I reached in to activate it, and voila - a secret door opened! I suddently found myself in a room with a wall of artifacts. Going by the picture Tahiya sent me, I was able to determine which one was hers. I carefully swapped out Tahiya's artifact for a fake one. It seems as I did the switch, I tripped a wire. I frantically attempted to deactivate it, to no avail. And if I thought things couldn't get worse, the door started to close! I now had no way out of here! I called out to Estelle, letting her know I was stuck, and sure that Khet would be on their way any moment now. I picked up Tahiya's artifact and stuffed it safely in bag as I circled the room looking for a way out. I was sure we were dead meat when I felt the artifact vibrate in my bag. Before I knew it, I was enveloped in what seemed like electricty from top to bottom! It felt like I blacked out for a few minutes, and when I came to, there was Estelle in front of me. I was somehow transported out of the locked room! As we both stood there, stunned, I pulled out my canteen and took a looooong drink! Estelle took the canteen from me and proceeded to drink as well. Then we spun around and headed up the steps, eager to get the heck out of there! Estelle and I quickly called Tahiya once we were outside again, then discussed our little adventure for a few minutes. We decided all things considered that we would keep the mysterious help from the artifact to ourselves. We were grateful for the help, and didn't want to draw any unwanted attention to the artifact. We stayed the night, then bid farewell to Al Simhara. On our way home, I received an interesting text. Need help pronto! Please respond! A PI's work is never done....

Thank you martoele!  There is a prologue that was published a few weeks to introduce the story line, and I had saved some screenshots to coincide with this chapter, but unfortunately I lost those shots.  It's still a lot fun to do though!
