"Carrots," I read. I thought the list would be short, apparently I was wrong. There was a page full of things I needed to get-and by dinner. How was I supposed to get all of this stuff within just a few hours?

I relaxed myself and grabbed a bag of carrots from the vegetable stand, when someone bumped into me and knocked them out of my hands.
"Oh gosh, I am so sorry," a man with bleached hair said.

"Oh, it's fine. I'll just get another bag," I said.

"I don't think I've ever seen you around. I think I'd remember a pretty face like yours," he said.

I laughed. "I'm not in town much. I'm actually in college."

"College? I remember those days," he laughed. "Parties all the time."

"Ha, ha. I wouldn't know anything about that. I'm not much of a party girl."

"What? You look like a party girl!"
"What does a party girl look like, exactly?" I asked him.

"Well... Definitely gorgeous. Someone who looks well kept, you know?"

I smiled. "I guess that's a compliment?"

"You guessed right," he smiled. "I'm Pete."

"I'm Mia. It's nice to meet you, Pete. Even if you did ruin my bag of carrots."
"I really am sorry about that," he said, backing up. "I'm just not used to seeing pretty girls at the grocery store."

I smiled again. He sure knows how to make me smile... And get my mind off of Cody.
"Hey, what do you say about coming over for dinner tonight? I'm sure Madison wouldn't mind."

"Madison? Is that your mother?" he asked.

"No," I laughed, "I work for her, but I'm staying at her farm until my parents get home for the holidays."

He nodded. "So? What do you say? Are you up for food and maybe a bit of drama?"
He put his hand to his chin, deep in thought. I stared at him, waiting for his answer.

Please say yes, please say yes!

"Well.."
"I'm always up for food, and maybe even a little bit of drama."

"Great! You can follow me with your car to the farm, it'll take a half an hour just to get there. Madison should be ready to make dinner by then." I smiled.
"I'm just going to go pay for this, then we can go," I said, holding up the basket of food.

This will definitely keep my mind off of Cody. I mean, what better way to get your mind off of a boy, by being with another boy?
I put the basket on the counter, ready to go.

"Is this all for you 'Ma'am?"

"Yes, it is," I said, a grin on my face.

Not allof it/.
I handed the cashier the money and walked out to my car. As soon as I got to the parking lot, Pete was in his car, waving at me.

This should be interesting...
"Nice farm," Pete said as we walked up the stairs to the front door. "Yeah, it is nice. Pretty big, too."

"I see. Are you sure your friend is going to be okay with me coming over? I mean, I am a stranger, you know."

"I'm sure she'll be fine," I replied.
"Just, uh, don't pay attention to some of the things that certain people might say, okay?"

Pete looked confused. "Um, okay?"

"Okay, good," I smiled. We walked inside, where Madison was preparing dinner.
"Hey, Madison. This is Pete. Is it okay if he stays for dinner?"

She looked up from what she was doing and smiled. "Of course it's okay. Hi there, Pete. How are you doing?"

"I'm fine, thank you," he smiled.

"Well, why don't y'all just sit in the dining room with everyone else while I finish making tonights meal."
"Okay, thank you Madison!" I said, walking with Pete to the dining room.

"She's nice," he said.

"I know, isn't she?" I smiled at him.
"You're lucky to have her in your life, it seems like she cares a great deal about you."

I just smiled, again. I care a great deal about her, too. She's pretty much my best friend, now.
We both took our seats at the table, while everyone stared.

"Who are you?" Tim rudely asked Pete as he went to sit down.

"I'm Pete," he replied.

Tim studied him, and I rolled my eyes. I turned to whisper in Pete's ear. "Like I said, don't pay attention to what they say."

Pete nodded, like he finally understood why I told him that.
"Are you her new boyfriend?" Baylee asked.

"Why? Do you want to take him from me, too?" Baylee's cheeks turned pink.

"How about you both just mind your own business," I said.
Cody stared at Pete, not saying a word. He looked peeved.

"Something wrong, Cody?" I asked.

"No. Nothing's wrong, Mia." He replied.

Baylee whispered something in Cody's ear, and he laughed.

Yeah, yeah, say what you want. They were probably saying something about Pete, or maybe even me. I don't care, though. What they have to say doesn't bother me one bit.
"So, Pete, what do you do?" I asked, turning to him.

"As in career-wise?" He asked.

"Yes," I smiled.

"Oh.. I sell things to people. Boring, if you ask me."

"Sounds easy," Baylee chimed in.

"It is," he smiled, staring at her. I looked away.

Here we go. Baylee's always taking the spotlight.

"Dinner is served!" Madison sang, as she walked in the dining room and set a plate of food in front of everyone. "I hope you aren't a vegetarian, Pete."
"Nope. Not at all," he smiled, digging into his pork chops.

"So, Cody, how was your date with Paisley?" Baylee asked.

Date with Paisley? Cody went on a date with Paisley? I should have known. She's always wanted what I have. Or, had, in this case.

Cody gave Baylee an annoyed look. Whoops. Looks like she wasn't supposed to say anything. Surprised she did, seeing as how she keeps secrets so well.
"It was.. Interesting. You know, it wasn't exactly a date. She has a boyfriend."

"They broke up," Baylee replied, "that's why she wanted me to set you two up together. She said she saw you around campus and she liked what she saw. Plus, as her Sister, I was obligated to help her in any way."
"Sister?" Pete asked me.

"Sorority sister," I replied.
"Well, you're my sister, too. And you're obligated to help me. So please tell her that I'm not interested." Cody said.

"Fine. But she won't be happy."

"She'll get over it."
"So, Baylee, what are you majoring in, in college?" Pete asked Baylee.

"Drama."

How did I know...

"Great choice," Pete beamed.

"Thank you. She looked at Madison. "At least someone thinks so."

"Now, Baylee, I told you since you've already been majoring in Drama since Freshman year that I was okay with it. Now can we please get over it?"

Baylee smiled. "Of course, Mother."
"So, Pete, are you married?" Cody asked, on impulse, ignoring everybody else's conversations.

"Nope. Marriage isn't for me."

"Why not?" Cody asked.

"It's just too much... Money. Very Costly." He said.

"What if you eloped?" I asked. "Not very costly, then."

"Eh... I don't know, I still don't think it'd be for me," he said, stuffing more food into his mouth.

Everyone finally finished their food, and I volunteered to clean the dishes. I mean, it's the least I can do since I brought over a stranger to Madison and Patrick's home. I heard footsteps and I looked back to see Cody.

"What, did you get tired of hearing your sister talk?" I asked.
"Yes, actually," he laughed.

"That's not why I came in here, though."

He looked at me, and I turned back to the dishes.

"What are you doing, Mia?"
"I'm washing the dishes, Cody."

"That's not what I mean. I mean, what are you doing with him?"

"Why is that any of your business?"

"Are you trying to make me jealous?"

"No," I replied. "Is he making you jealous?"

"No... But he's a player. I just want you to be careful."
"Shame you didn't say that when Timothy was cheating on me. Now you want to speak up when a complete stranger, who I am only friends with, shows up for dinner. Unbelievable. Not to mention the fact that you went on a date with Paisley, knowing that she's just like your sister."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

I laughed. "Oh, you know exactly what it means."

"Whatever, Mia. Just be careful around him, and don't say I didn't warn you." He started to walk away, as I kept scrubbing the dishes.
I finished up the dishes, within another five minutes. My fingers were soggy and pruny when I finished, so I waited in the kitchen for a few minutes before going back in the dining room. I walked in the dining room when I finished drying my hands. They were still pruny, but I didn't care. It'll ware of in no time.

"Hey, Pete, come on," I said.

"Okay, where are we going?" he said, standing up.

"Up to the loft," I replied.
We walked all the way to the loft, talking about Tim's face.

"It was so red, like he was angry about something!" Pete said.

"I know! Ridiculous, if you ask me. He looked like a pumpkin!" We both laughed as we walked up the ladder, and took a seat on the sofa.

"Did you two date, or something?" Pete asked as we sat on the couch.
"Yeah. Though, he cheated on me with Baylee."

"Ouch. That must have sucked."

"More than you know," I said. "The worst part is that her brother, Cody, knew about it and didn't tell me. He just continued to act like nothing was happening."
"Yeah, that sounds terrible. I'm guessing you're not really friends with either of them?" He speculated.

"Nope. Not really. Just their parents."

"Wow. I've never been friends with a friends parents. Well, except for my brother's wifes' parents. They're nice. And they own the diner in town. Ever been?"

"No, didn't it just open up?"

"M&M's, yep. It's awesome. We should go some time," he smiled.
"Maybe," I smiled back.

I looked over, and Pete was staring at me. He scooted closer to me.
"Whoa, what are you doing?" I asked.

"I was just..."

"You were just what? Trying to kiss me?" I accused.
"No.."

"Really? Because that's what it looked like to me."

"Maybe you should be sending mixed signals, then," he snapped.

"Excuse me?"

"No wonder your boyfriend cheated on you. You're a tease."
"I think it's time you leave. And never come back, for that matter." I yelled.
"Whatever. Happily," he replied, getting up and stomping down the stairs.

What a jerk.
I guess Cody was right about him. He really was a player. Obviously he was only hanging out with me because he thought I was into him.

Who knows how many other girlfriends he has? What a sicko.

Maybe I should apologize to Cody, now.. I mean, he was right about one thing...

No, Mia. You can't. This is nothing compared to what he kept from you.

I just sighed and slouched in the couch. Why do these things keep happening to me?
Hey guys! I just wanted to thank you for reading this chapter, and also I wanted to say that the next chapter will be about sixty something pictures long. So I hope that isn't too much!

I also wanted to give you some fun facts about Pete.
-He has two children, and two on the way. All from four different women.
-He's the 'older guy,' Carmen was talking about when she said she was cheating on her boyfriend.
-He's a romance sim. (Obviously)
-He has natural black hair, but I wanted to try something different with him, so I gave him blonde hair. He's back to black, now, though!
-Oh, and one of the kids he has is with Izzy's mom. He also has one with Caine's, Izzy's fiance, Mom. They're both girls, Olive and Kelsie. :)

Thanks for reading, Chapter 9 will be out soon, and then the next series! :D

Mia asking Pete over to dinner wasn't really a smart move from her, glad she realized. I like Cody a lot, and the fact that he is kind of a Guardian angel to her. He likes her too, but I like the fact that he doesn't show his feelings so obviously.
