Later that night Nick stayed up watching old videos. He began reminiscing about old times with the four of them.
"Say Hi Ladybug!".
He smiled as he watched the videos. Up until now he had stored the home movies away. For the first year after Nellie left they had only brought him sadness. But now he was delighted to know that they were all back again. He heard the footsteps coming down the stairs and turned to see Loni walking towards him and the TV.

Loni: Is that me?
Nick: Yep.
Loni: I was so chubby. Why am I eating dirt?
Nick: I don't know. You were such a dare devil.
Loni: And you let me?
Nick: It was only a little. And your mom was close by. She always had a heart attack when you did stuff like that.
Loni: So what were we like?
Nick: What do you mean?
Loni: What were we like here? Did I like it here?
Nick: Well I guess. You were a baby then. You liked everything.
Loni: Did you miss us when we left? Mom talked about you a lot but you never called.
Nick: Well of course I missed you. I missed you both.
Nick: Your mom and I lost touch when things became busy for the both of us. But she always sent pictures when she could. And I sent postcards of places I had traveled to.
Loni: Mom kept clippings of you in the magazines and whenever your name came up in papers.
Nick: Really?
Loni: Yep. You dated a lot of women!
Nick laughed.
Nick: Don't believe everything.
Loni: That's what mommy said. I think dating is nasty. My grandma says I will marry Carl. He's this mean boy that lives across the street from her house. He always teases me and makes fun of my hair. She says he likes me.
Nick: Well he might.
Loni: Well I sure don't like him. So I pushed him down the stairs.
Nick couldn't help but laugh at how the little girl sounded. She had a proud look on her face when she told him.
She asked him a lot of questions about the different places he had been and what it was like being famous. Although he did assure her he wasn't as famous as most celebrities he did enjoy some of the perks and discounts.
Nick: I just like traveling to different places. Although I don't stay long enough to really enjoy the trip. I always say I will go later but have not found the time to go back later.
The two of them talked late into the night and watched more home movies.
Loni had soon fell asleep as the last of the videos played. Nick picked her up and headed up the stairs. He was careful not to wake her. She had always been a heavy sleeper.
Loni: I love you Nick.
She was still asleep. He stopped just before reaching the steps.
He smiled and kissed her forehead.
Nick: I love you too Ladybug.
He continued to walk up the stairs and laid her in her bed.
By morning Ms. Carol had already had breakfast prepared and had taken Loni out with her. This left Nellie and Nick time to spend alone. So they both walked around Starlight Hills. There were plenty of things over the few years that had not left. Nick: So you kept clippings of me?
Nellie: Loni.
Nick: It's good to know you kept me close.
Nellie: Of course. I was always your biggest fan.
Nick: There was a time when you and Ms. Carol were my only fans.
Nellie: If I couldn't keep in touch one way. I was going to try another way. Besides, I don't know that many celebrities. This was my brag book.
Nick: I'm touched.
They stopped at Nellie's favorite deli next to the square.
Nellie: Oh my goodness. You still eat peanut butter, sardines, and bananas.
Nick: It's my favorite snack.
Nellie: You always had a weird appetite.
Nick: Take a bite.
Nellie: Ew no!
Nick: For me.
Nellie: Not even.
By the time Nick and Nellie returned from their outing, Ms. Carol and Loni were back from theirs.
Nick joined Loni in a game of football.
Nick: I didn't know you played.
Loni: I don't. We don't have video games at home. I just wanted to see what it was like.
Nick began showing the little girl all the buttons and what they meant. But by the time they were playing the game for an hour she had mastered how to play it well
Nick: If I didn't know better I'd say you just hustled me.
Loni: I said I don't know how to play this game. My friend's big brother has other ones back home that we play.
Ms. Carol smiled as she watched the two of them play. Loni beat Nick twice before calling it quits because he had to get ready.
Loni waited for him downstairs. She was growing anxious. He promised her he would show her at least one trick before he left.
Then she heard him call:
Nick: Ladies and....ladies. I present to you the magnificent, the awesome, the great. NIICK STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE!!!!

She ran towards the stairs as he began to walk down. Her mouth dropped as he came closer.
Nick: TA-DA!
She squealed with delight. She walked slowly around him looking at his suit. It was shiny and there were sequins almost everywhere, down to the sides of his pants. She held her hand out to touch him but drew her hand back.
Nick: Here. (he smiled)
He held his hand out for her to touch. When she finally touched him she squealed again.
Loni: Just wait until I tell my friends at school.
Nick: Well you have to see my bag of tricks.
Just as he said that, he pulled out a small bag and turned it inside out. And with a snap of his fingers the bag disappeared and in it's place were butterflies.
Loni watched in amazement.
Loni: whoooooooooooa! Can you do another one?
Nick paced back and forth thinking.
Nick: Well there is one. I don't do it often and I don't do it for everyone.
Loni: Oh pleaaaaaaaaaaaase.
Nick looked at her again and then walked away.
Nick: No, it's too tricky and always take a lot of energy out of me.
Loni looked disappointed. And then Nick pointed at her feet. Just as he did he opened his hands. She followed his gaze staring at her feet as well.
Nick: Stay completely still
The little girl froze. She could feel something tugging at her body from above. Then she could feel her feet raise from the floor. But it was not her that was doing it. She looked at her feet again realizing that she was more a few feet from the ground. She held her breath in amazement. She was scared and excited at the same time. She looked over at Nick who was smiling at her confidently. She began to relax.
When he finally placed her back down, the little girl screamed with delight. It was so loud it startled Nellie who was upstairs in her room. She ran down fearful that something had happened. When she reached the den where they were, the little girl ran to her mother in delight. She was talking so fast Nellie couldn't understand a word shew as saying.
Loni: I flew mommy! Nick made me fly!
Nellie looked over at Nick. He shrugged his his shoulders and gave a small smirk.
Nick: Kids have the biggest imagination.
That night Nick had another great performance at the Starlight Dome. It was a sold out crowd but because it was such a late performance he could not take Loni. He promised her that his next performance she could come and be his personal assistant. He didn't stay for the usual after party of celebrities. Instead he came straight home. He had more important people there. When he arrived to the house it was dark and silent. He looked at his watch and saw it was after midnight. As always he went to Ms. Carol's room to check on her. She was fast asleep, with her book resting on her chest. He walked down the hall to where Nellie and Loni were. He quietly walked in the room where they both were sleeping. Loni would often get in the bed and sleep with Nellie when she was afraid to sleep alone.
He watched them for a minute. Then kissed them both on their heads before going to his own room.
Nellie woke up just before the sun rose. By this time they had already stayed a few days longer than she anticipated. She loved the view of the water from her bedroom. She took a deep breath to inhale the fresh air. She took a few more in. The air was just as fresh as back home. Her mind began to wander as she stood there staring at the water. It was nice to be back where she called home. To be with Ms. Carol. To be with Nick. She didn't realized that she was being watched from across the way. Nick was also outside watching the sun rise. It was something he and Nellie would do years ago and he never stopped doing since.
When she was done stretching he called over to her.
Nick: Morning.
Nellie: I guess old habits never die.
Nick: I see you still love the sun as well.
Nellie: I can't believe you are up and dressed this early in the morning.
Nick gave a small laugh.
Nick: Unfortunately, I never went to bed. It was a long night with appearances and such. But I have something in mind for us and Loni.
Nellie: Oh. I feel like you're spoiling her.
Nick: I just want to get as much time in before you decide to leave. Get dressed and meet me down stairs.
Nick took the girls out for the annual egg hunt at the Central Park. He and Nellie sat on the blanket and watched as Loni ran around the park with the other children looking for eggs. And when she found the prize egg she showed it off to her mother and Nick.
Loni: Look how cool it is Nick!
Nick: That's my ladybug!
Afterwards they stayed and continued to enjoy the rest of the Park's activities. From the festival performances located on stage. To all the mini games set up along the area. Loni ran from place to place dragging both Nellie and Nick over to each game. Nick whistled for Nellie to join him on the matchmaker meter. She frowned at first, reluctant to touch it.
Nellie: That is so silly.
Nick: Come on. Don't make me waste my quarter.
She placed her hand on top of his and held on.
Nick: Red. Well look at that.
Nellie: It probably does that for everyone.
She walked away laughing.
Later that evening, the three of them sat eating the dinner Ms. Carol prepared.
Nellie: It's too bad Ms. Carol couldn't come. Is she feeling under the weather again?
Nick laughed nervously.
Nick: Yeah, that's what she said.
The three of them continued eating and talking. Loni talked about all the games she played at the fair.
Nick: So I was thinking about you all staying a little longer.
Nellie: Nick. We've already been here past the time I wanted. We were just supposed to be here a few days and now, it's been a week.
Nick: Well at least a few more days. I have this big event I have to attend and need a date.
Nellie: I'll think about it.
Meanwhile Loni sat people watching. By now most of the other families were also sitting around the eating area, laughing and playing. She watched the twin girls that lived down the street from Nick chasing each other. She waved to her new friend Hannah Allen (Best Friend Series)who was playing with her father Aj. She was about to ask her mother if she could go and play when he began to watch Nellie and Nick talk. She wasn't paying attention to what they were saying but instead the way her mother looked at him. She had not seen her mother smile and laugh like that before. She had not really paid much attention. But the little girl watched her mother closely. Then she remembered what Ms. Carol told her to say.
Loni: Mommy.
Nellie: Yes baby.
Loni: You look really pretty.
Nellie: Well thank you baby. And so do you.
Loni: You look extra pretty today. Doesn't she Nick?
Nick looked over to the little girl and then back at Nellie.
Nick: Yes. Yes she does look extra pretty today Loni.
Nellie looked back at Nick and smiled. But there was something about the way he said it that sounded more than just a compliment. The way he looked at her made her face feel warm and she could feel her body begin to sweat.
Nellie: Come on honey, let's go skating before it they close of the rink.
Nellie took Loni's hand and walked her daughter over to the rink. After placing on their skates, Nellie took her daughters hand again and slowly walked onto the floor. The little girl had never skated before because their small town did not have a rink. Loni held her mother's hand tightly as she was led across the floor.
Loni: Don't let go mommy.
Nellie: Never.
Loni waved over to Nick when she was getting the hang of it. He waved back over to them smiling.
Nick: You're doing great Ladybug!
He continued to watch as they skated for the remainder of their stay.
The next morning Nick and Ms. Carol sat at the breakfast table.
Ms. Carol: So how did it go? Are they going to stay longer?
Nick: I don't know.
Ms. Carol: What do you mean you don't know? You asked her didn't you?
Nick: I did and she said she would see. They have to go back home eventually. That's where her family is.
Ms. Carol: But we are her family too.
Ms. Carol: That's the problem with you young people today. You too scared to just take things. You let her go once before because you were too afraid of just taking her by the hand and saying what you wanted to say. You have to tell her Nick.
Nick: I know Ms. Carol. It's just not as easy as you think.
Ms. Carol: Sure it is. You take her hand and say "Nellie I love you". Men do it to me all the time.
