It's here people, let's see where it takes us.

Happy New Year, peeps!
This place has been closed for hours, but with credentials like mine, doors tend to stay open long into the night. I’ve never felt more misplaced in my entire life. Well, no there was that one time in fourth grade when I forgot to get my permission slip signed and couldn’t go on the zoo field trip.

And the first time I took my throne, even after those six years of being tested and tested and tested. Mostly, though, it felt strange to be above ground for a change. The Underground labyrinth with it’s large expansive rooms and palaces and areas felt like a world unto itself. But, then you travel back up from it’s hold, and here’s an entire world you overlooked, misplaced. Demetrius is planning something, for a while now; he thinks he’s so slick, but I can tell—he gets this look in his eyes and keeps his chin down. I mean, what other reasons could he have for kicking me off my throne for a month with the thin excuse that “I haven’t had a vacation in nearly three decades so never.” Well, excuse me for thinking that being the Queen of the North-American Vampyres was not a job one actually gets vacation days for. So, my brother, has ousted me from my throne with Mac Heath—and this is how I know know that my brother’s scheming: there isn’t any other reason Demetri would throw in with the very same vampyre who threatened his existence just seven months ago. Then again, odder things have happened than two vampyres reconciling. I can only hope his plans work out for the best—whatever those plans may be, maybe I’m too trusting. I shouldn’t trust someone who cannot even be open with me, his family, his sister, his Queen.

Maybe, I’m being paranoid.
I might need that vacation, after all. This night is cold, but my skin is colder, and like most nights, when it starts to feel late, I catalogue everyone I love, mark down their place and their well-being in my mind—it’s a short list dominated by my brother and my son— Panic rolls through me, and a feeling of claustrophobia closes around my throat. My minds turns—“Rufa.” So, there it is, folks.

Looks like this story will be told through Pilot Hunter and Evelyn Miller's perspectives, alternating each chapter.

But, more importantly, who's this "Rufa" character? And why such the strong bond with Evelyn? All questions to be answered next time on What About Today.

Hope you enjoyed!
