Fikcija's Blog
I'm still writing, just not here
I have recently resumed writing The Sims 2 Chronicles. Actually, I've restarted writing them. This time they will be better. And this time I'm sticking to it.
If you're still interested in Sims 2, you can find my stories at https://simworldchronicles.wordpress.com/
I have also started a legacy-style gameplay story with Sims 3, which you can find at http://sims3journey.wordpress.com/
I will forever be grateful to this place for being my story home for such a long time, but moving on was long overdue and I've finally done it. I've been actively writing and updates on those sites will be regular: twice a week for Sims 2 and three times a week for Sims 3.
Update
I quit writing the chronicles because my computer died... I was in a foreign country and it happened in the middle of my exams, and I had a total panic and barely survived the end of the year, and believe me, sims were the last thing on my mind...
However, I don't think I will be continuing the chronicles in here any more. I'll consider it, but it's highly unlikely.
Instead, I am no working on a blog specifically for my chronicles. I don't want to give an estimate when it will be done, could be a few months. I just don't want to start it and abandon it, so I won't make it public until I at least transfer everything that I've already done into it.
But even that doesn't mean it won't be all new! I am currently working on my Pleasantview Chronicles in that blog, and I am completely rewriting them. I am using the same pictures and the same story line, but I am improving the way they're written. After all I'm a creative writing student now, starting my second year of studies!
I have never grown to like Sims 3 completely and my heart stayed with Sims 2. A great deal of the fact I'm trying to be a writer I owe to Sims 2. And that is why I can't abandon it. I will continue writing chronicles, I will write about other neighbourhoods, but it just won't be on TSR and it will take some time to prepare the new place.
In case anyone here is interested, I will share the link to the new location, once it's completely ready to see the light of day. Until then, I would like to thank everyone who has ever read and commented on my chronicles. It's been amazing. I hope to see you around, in the new place.... When the time comes.
Coming back!
I hope there are still chronicles fans out there :) Because I'm back. I would have been back earlier, but I spent half a year in a foreign country, with my new computer, and without my sims being installed on it :( As I didn't have time before leaving... And I didn't have the discs. But now I'm back, I really really missed my neighbourhoods, and I'm about to start writing again :) So look for a new part of Veronaville Chronicles soon!
It's been a while...
Hi all.
I don't know where to start. I haven't only been not writing, I haven't logged in to TSR for a while now... And I come back to it looking all new and unfamiliar. I have ran out of excuses not to write, I am no longer a student so I have plenty of time on my hands. I have one part of Veronaville written before my disappearance but not published because the wizard manager is not working, no longer supported and I couldn't upload it through it. And you can imagine the pain trying to gather a hundred pictures named randomly from that screenshots folder. But I will do my best to get it out soon and continue my work if there still be anyone interested.
To add to this... I'll be studying something new. I'm starting a course Creative and Professional Writing in September. And I'll be studying it in London. A big change for me... Hopefully some growth as a writer. I have come to understand it's my passion and I want to dedicate a lot more to it than I have before.
So what else can I say... Stay tuned!
Legacy news and bugs
I've recently missed my sims so much that to satisfy this hunger for simming I came back to something that comes easy - my sims 3 legacy! I had both pleasant and unpleasant surprises from the last time I played... No more "clock skips minutes" problem (at least not in my legacy save, I didn't have the courage to check other saves, too happy for now)! But something's VERY wrong with the maid service. Maids don't come any more. They used to come 3 and more at a time, now they don't come at all. I tried calling for services, but it says I have the service already "ordered", so I tried canceling. But it won't cancel either, I called about 20 times, still not canceled, they say they sent a maid out already. I just wonder, will it be the same if I need a repairman and don't have a handy sim around? Will the fireman or policeman also not come if I ever need them?
I guess I'll find out sooner or later... Other than that, hey - my legacy idea (rainbow colors) is on sims wiki! http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Legacy_Challenge Well, unless of course someone else came up with it, then it might not be only mine... But I know I didn't copy it from anywhere, I thought of it myself, a few years ago, while still with Sims 2 only.
I'm sorry I abandoned my chronicles for so long, but I am on my final year of studies and I have so many things to do and worry about that I can barely find time for playing. And chronicles are something that takes careful planning and thinking through. Besides, my Sims 2 game loads almost an hour... While Sims 3 loads fast and I just "go with the flow", no planning. I will come back to my chronicles, I promise, I miss them myself. So I hope there are still people who read... All this being said, I'm back to my legacy. It's 4th generation is at the age of teens already!
Veronaville progress
As you have noticed, I've recently moved most of my effort in simming to my Sims 3 legacy. But that is about to change! I started experiencing some problems with that game (again) and I don't have the mood, the patience and the time to deal with that right now. I'll probably post one more part before taking a break from it, but the good news is - I'm back to Veronaville! I am not really working on the chroincles right now, but I will get to that once I finish a little short story in which the characters of Veronaville will be involved. I already have some pictures and I really want to make it good, so I'm trying not to rush the progress. I have uploaded a few pictures of the characters already and will probably upload some more before the actual story comes out.
Report on progress
I did it again, didn't I? I should stop promising. Anyway, many of you probably noticed I've been gone for a while, haven't even read and commented any stories (I'm so sorry, my favorite authors!)... The truth is I was playing The Sims 3... And once again I have to say it. I only play TS3 to remind myself how much I love TS2. It's not the pets, it's not the weather, it's nothing that can be fixed with an expansion pack... My heart stays with Sims 2 forever, so I'm back for good, missed them insanely and the first part of Veronaville is half-written already. I'm at the peak of the semester, having so many things to do, but I use Sims to relax once in a while, so the work is in progress. That being said, I'm still alive, still writing, will be back soon :)
Veronaville coming soon...
The 15th and final part of Strangetown, along with a surprise inside, is published and waiting to be approved. Since the computer accident I had to rewrite a lot, but at least the game itself is safe. As you are reading this, I am making a backup copy to a disk of my Pleasantview, Strangetown and downloads, so it will sit safely on the shelf, in case anything happens.
Something is wrong now with my Veronaville (which I haven't played since my last reinstall, haven't even touched it), all the Maxis-made screenshots and stories are gone. When I enter it says "This neighborhood has no history" or something like that. And since I can't make the intro without it, I will have to find a way to get those back... Hopefully without having to reinstall the whole game.
But I am already learning about the sims of Veronaville and making up a plan how to play them, who to match with who... I decided not to make it a themed old historical neighborhood (even though I really wanted to) simply because it wouldn't coordinate well with the pictures that are already there... And it would have to go modern somehow anyway. But it still won't be ordinary. Pleasantview was ordinary (mostly). Strangetown had aliens. In Veronaville, there's magic in the air...
My PC just exploded
It can't be all good, can it? When a few days ago my computer suddenly started restarting itself whenever I load sims, I thought something was wrong... When my father checked it out and said it "seems that nothing is wrong and nothing is overheating" and it stopped happening I thought it was just something with electricity (happens a lot). But just 10 minutes ago when I was finishing writing Part 15 of Strangetown chronicles (and of course only about a half of my hard work was recently saved) I heard something explode and from the sudden black screen in front of me I realised it was my computer... Well hooray, it just HAD to happen on a friday evening. My father says it's the supply unit... At least it's not the graphics card, thank you for that much... So now I am writing it from my laptop, which is way too crappy to play sims on, and even if I could, everything is on my main computer... Including the story that I ALMOST finished... This being said, it's 2am in here now, good night and sweet dreams everybody. A very nice way of telling me "go get some sleep instead of wasting your time on sims all night". I'll keep you posted...
Chronicles are back!
Some of you have already noticed - I'm back with my Chronicles series :) There was a lot going on in my life and even if I played sometimes, I had no time or wasn't in the mood to write... That's why you get two parts at once and will get another one soon, probably this week. It is nice to see that people still read the series and enjoy it, so I officially state that... the chronicles will continue! Strangetown's 15th part will be the last for now. I only have a few more families left to write about and I think I'll let you know what's Arielle's secret, if you haven't figured out yet. I will end the story for now because I've reached the 50 sim-days (50 years in the game meaning) in each household, like I did in Pleasantview before, and I will move on to start a story about another neighborhood. I'm not abandoning Strangetown forever, I will come back to both Pleasantview and Strangetown eventually, but there are 4 more cities with other families that have stories to tell. One of them also came with the base game. You guessed right - Veronaville. I see no reason in breaking the sequence, so my next work will focuse on Romeo and Juliette. I can't promise when will the first part come out since I want to do some custom content downloading, deleting, organizing... But I am in the mood of writing and creating. As long as it lasts - you will hear from me once in a while :) Thank you all for your interest, patience and continued support.
