Previously on Summer Hill...
After buying a legacy lot on Summer Hill, Gamelia spent all she had left on a trip to Egypt. While working for MorcuCorp, she met Youssef Nagi. It was instant attraction. But Gamelia's visa expired and she had to go home the following morning. Life back in Sunset Valley was lonely. She had trouble making friends, her job was boring, and she was living out of a tent. Her heart was in Al Simhara. On an impulse, she recklessly spent all her earnings on another trip to Egypt.
Thus begins Chapter 4 . . .

Thus begins Chapter 4 . . .
Gamelia welcomed the familiar feel of dust on her feet as she approached the market in Al Simhara. She heard the cry of the snake charmer's pungi and felt a rush of energy. "I'm back in Egypt!" When she reached the market courtyard, she paused to cool off in the shade. She was thinking how hot it would get that day when she spotted Youssef outside the relic shop. Youssef was looking straight at her. She smiled in his direction. He looked away without so much as a nod. "I guess he doesn't recognize me," she thought, feeling disappointed. She browsed the stalls, then decided to call and check in with Aisha at MorcuCorp.
"This is Gamelia Sims. I'm back in Al Simhara," she announced. "Do you still need those flame fruits?"
Gamelia promised to meet with Aisha that evening to discuss business. Right now, she wanted to visit the merchants--one in particular.
She approached the entry to the relic shop, trusting that Youssef would recognize her and be the first to speak. She wanted the meeting to seem unplanned and didn't want to come across as eager, even if it was close to the truth. He made eye contact, smiled, then looked away. She felt a little deflated. He did not recognize her.
"Excuse me, sir," she asked with a tone one might expect to hear from a lost tourist. "I was told you have keystones for sale."
He turned to her and said, "Yes, yes. Keystones! What kind do you need?"
Gamelia grinned and winked.
"Gamelia, my friend!" he seemed genuinely excited. "I didn't recognize you! When I saw you last, you were rather dusty and wearing man pants. Look at you!"
She laughed, "I clean up well, don't I?"
He spilled out several questions all at once. "What brings you back to Al Simhara? How long have you been here? Are you traveling alone?" Gamelia chattered away, answering all his questions, and telling him about her life back in Sunset Valley and how happy she was to be back in Egypt. Youssef listened attentively. "What about family? Don't you have family in Sunset family?" he asked. Gamelia shrugged and was quiet for a moment. Then she said slowly, "Umm... it's kind of hard to explain, but I come from a weird family. We don't stay in touch. I'm on my own now." He nodded as he considered what she said. Then he flashed a wide smile, saying,"While you are in Al Simhara, consider yourself with family! Can you come to dinner tonight?"
She thought about Aisha and apologized, "Sorry, but I have an appointment this evening." Then she remembered that Youssef had warned her away from MorcuCorp, and feared he might ask about the appointment. She quickly added, "With a friend. I have an appointment with a friend." Youssef looked confused for a moment. Gamelia realized that it sounded like a brush off. "What about tomorrow night?" she asked.

His face brightened and he reached for her hand. "Gamelia, I am sorry, but tomorrow night is no good for me."
"Oh?" she asked.
"That is far too long to wait," he explained. "Come and have breakfast with me tomorrow morning. I can take the day off. We can spend the whole morning together--the afternoon, too, if you wish." A quiet giggle escaped Gamelia's lips before she checked herself. "Ummm... okay." Youssef hugged her good-bye, saying, 'I'll see you in the morning, my friend. Come any time after 8:00." Gamelia was up at sunrise the next morning. At 7:55 a.m., she hopped on her scooter and drove to Youssef's house. She timed it perfectly, arriving at 8:00. Youssef's place was a well-situated but modest home not too far from the market. Gamelia felt nervous and excited as she rung the doorbell. Youssef answered the door with a hearty "Good morning!" He took her hand and led her inside. Then he gave a brief "tour" of the house, which was really just a couple of sweeping arm gestures to point out all three rooms. He finally asked, "Are you hungry? I have breakfast ready if it pleases you." Gamelia thought his manners and expressions were very endearing. After breakfast, they talked like two old friends, swapping childhood stories. He did his best impression of the typical American tourist, using a hokey south western accent. She did her own impression of the typical Egyptian merchant, which made him laugh to tears. "You must stop!" he said, gasping for air. "You sound like my father!" Gamelia wanted him to kiss her, but he didn't. They talked about the serious stuff, too, including politics and the current national crisis. The conversation eventually led to MorcuCorp. Youssef soberly asked, "Gamelia, you don't do business with them, do you?" "Ummm . . . no," she lied. "You said to stay away from them." She had not meant to lie, and certainly wasn't the type of person who made a habit of it, but it just came out before she could stop herself. Her cheeks were burning with shame. She was about to tell him the truth when he stepped closer and looked directly into her eyes with adoration. "Gamelia," he said. "I think you are the type of woman I could fall in love with."

Yey! Youseff seems like such a gentleman. \:wub\:  Maybe now Gamelia could buy a house...with Youseff? You are a great story teller. In just several sentances you are able to tell us exactly what is going on and you use great descriptive words too. Makes me feel like I write too much in my stories sometimes. lol \:confused\: Looking forward to finding out what happens next! \:\)
